Re: Doug's Dream
to the question above J&J Engineering Inc.
Big Bear City, CA they got the hook-up for sweet all aluminum dash bezel's / so my tank got delayed along with all of the other parts I've ordered I'm assuming that everyone is too busy doing taxes to ship their own product out or they laid off half of their staff lol jk hopefully I'll get this truck done soon; spring time is just around the corner and I want to drive it bad!!! As far as paint and body its looking like valentines weekend, good thing I don't have a girlfriend at the moment or she'd be pissed of all the money and time I'm spending with my truck =p |

Re: Doug's Dream
that doesn't look like a 6 in lift that way its sitting on the 36s because i had a 35 on one side in the the front with a 6in in kit and it was a tighter fit. You may have a 8 or 10 in kit, unless it had those wood blocks in the first few pictures.
Change the gears to 4.10s for bogging because to don't want to much torque or too little. And if you change the gears change the front to a locker or limited slip. Just my input.

Re: Doug's Dream
Ya, It's a 6" Suspension Lift and Had wood blocks in for a body lift/ took them out and put in a 3" body lift. As far as the front it has locker's; I am thinking about switching the gears out but how I go about it I'm still questioning. First thing is first, get it put back together and drive it!

Re: Doug's Dream
Go to a 4wd shop and talk to them they will know who changes them, if they don't. if you are going to do it yourself, its pretty hard from what i've heard.

Re: Doug's Dream
Wanted- Someone to help work on my truck
So ya its been awhile since I've touched my 72' project and alot of things have happened since I've touched it last. Long story short I work weekend shift and none of my friends are available to help work on it. I am looking for someone in Central IL area to help my work on this in their free time through the week Mon-thurs. Preferably some one with welding experience, tubing (need to run fuel lines), and overall modification. There really isn't much left but I can't bring myself to do it on my own I get bored very easily and need someone else with me to just chat and drink a few beers. Please e-mail me at lghtng2@yahoo.com if you are interested. -Jon |

Re: Doug's Dream
Nice truck, it appears your truck is sitting on a 73-87 style long bed frame. I can tell from the furthest rear crossmember with the holes. Just thought I would tell you if you ever need to order suspension components and such. Sorry, can't help you out with the labor. Trevor

Re: Doug's Dream
okay day 1 Redemption! Back to work on the truck I have removed the radiator, brake booster, all the pedal assembly, and removed the mounting bolts to the cab.
Later today around noon I'm having a few friends over to help pickup and place the cab and bed on a flat and prep the frame to be delivered for blasting on Sunday. Pictures are coming soon... |
