Re: copo trucks
There was a blue 71 or 72 shortbed with a 454 on ebay about a year ago. I'm sure a few here remember it. The seller claimed it was special ordered that way by a dealer and the 454 was installed at the factory.
All this copo discussion kind of reminded me of it anyway. I can't find a link to the blue one but there was a reference to another original 72 454 truck in a "Custom Classic Trucks" article. |

Re: copo trucks
To build on what Boneyardratz had stated toward the top of page 1, my truck was modeled after the 1968 SS truck pulling the SS Camaro at the Detroit Autoshow. I too found that old photo and held on to it. The truck had a Camaro grill insert to match the car. IT also had the hood inserts or fake vents to match the car. Other than that, the truck was just a clean SS truck. Timeless.
My truck is pictured in the post your ride tread, somewhere around page 64?? I'll look for that old picture and post it. Prostreet 72 |

Re: copo trucks
I am still interested in seeing a FACTORY radiator overflow. Someone on here had a 72 Cheyenne Super listed as one of their vehicles and I asked for a picture. It looked to me like aftermarket.

Re: copo trucks
I will dig it out when I go home for christmas break and post a picture for you. I gaurentee its original to the truck, as it still had the original light bar and cb outlets when I got it. Dated coded motor(didn't have vins stamped on em) and tranny. The truck also had factory 16" steelies.

Re: copo trucks
Look at the rad hose.....right where it goes into the rad there's a shape right behind it....that is the overflow. It's tall and skinny and fits right next to the rad bolted to the core support. You can make the bottle out barely and if you look closely there's a strap you can see that holds it to the core.

Re: copo trucks
If you look where the radiator hose connects to the radiator, below it you can the bracket(dark) and the bottle(white-ish). When I run across it, I will snap a better pic for ya.

I'm sorry but I can't make it out either. I know why he needs one though, the bottom heater hose is missing.

Re: copo trucks
29267truck probably means in larger series trucks( C60 and up), the low compression big block 366 and 427 heavy duty truck engines were used. Maybe there might have been a special order C30 with a 366? The 366 came out in 1966 and was considered a heavy duty industrial truck engine designed for working around the clock.
