Re: My barn find (Warehouse )

This pipe on a BB was usually thrown away and is difficult for restorers to find
and cost a pretty penny if you can find one. I need two of them

Question for the guys in the know....... Did GM ever paint the glovebox a differant color than the dash?
The reason I ask is because the SPID looks to be on the black glovebox door which is factory installed.
Quite often i have seen black glove box doors on the 69-70 trucks. I think it was to match the instrument cluster on the fancier trucks. I am pretty sure the woodgrain came out the next year. This is speculation of course.
On the flip side, that is one nice truck you have there.

Supposed to be the 69-70 GMC trucks.
(for some reason the "edit" function logs me out.)

Thumbs up Re: My barn find (Warehouse )

FWIW the Sierra Grande (z17) trucks are = to the Chevy Super Cheyenne.
I'm thinking the "Custom" in script above the doors come with the custom sport package (z84) listed on your SPID (but I'm not 100% sure). I'm thinking the package had the smaller mirrors (non West Coast mirrors) my mirrors don't stick out that far, but look similar, Front sway-bar & maybe chrome bumpers??
One thing I'm not sure about is the rear springs. The GMC's usually had leaf springs, so the Sport Truck might have the coils like mine?
Does your SPID say it has the Sport Truck (z84) pkg & do you have coils or leaf springs?
I'm interested in seeing a picture of the SPID, can you take one close enough to read?

I know on the 71-72 the glove box door was supposed to have the wood grain & painted the same dark color to match the steering column/gauge bezel/door panels. GMC did some weird things tho so if it doesn't match doesn't necessarily mean it's not original!

You definitely got a nice find
