Re: Fremont plant trucks

Well, in addition to my '72 being made in Fremont. My '79 El Camino also came from Fremont, at least that is what the as built sheet claims.

I think the Elco was made either in the wee hours of a Monday morning. Or, in the last hours of a Friday, cause it is a pile of S**t.

Just funnin`,man. It`s just kinda funny. If you had read the thread you would have seen Freemont enough to get that right and wouldn`t need to ask what one was.I see it all the time when members don`t read threads and get a chuckle, that`s all.

We'll I had to look up what the vin # codes where and sure enough I have a Fremont truck. It was originally sent to Yerington, NV where it was sold to the first owner.
I am the 3rd and 5th owner LOL, My Dad was the 4th owner (we like to keep these old trucks in the family when possible)

Re: Fremont plant trucks

Well, this got me curious...
Of all the old & current registration & titles I have for all my parts trucks & builders I've had or have...
I had 1 (One) Fremont truck. Happened to be the First 67-72 I ever owned. It was a '67 Short Fleet, Small Window, 283/PGlide, Red on Red, Bench Seat, 3 Hole dash cluster, Non-AC Truck. I bought it Oct 1988 in Rapid City, SD. Sold it in '92 or '93 in Dallas, Texas...
VIN# CE147Z140004
I guess rumor is, it's a show truck somewhere down in the Dallas area. I loved that truck... I'm still trying to someday build a '67 Short Fleet, Red on Red, V-8/Auto truck. But would add A/C & Buckets.

Re: Fremont plant trucks

JRDN and NYNCOMPUTE, your trucks are sweet. They have the late seventies look to them. You know, before many decent aluminum wheels were made for trucks, so we all bought widened steel ones and put the hubcaps back on. These trucks both have the business type look that was mentioned earlier. I am still torn with mine, I have a 71 C 10 that has the small dog dish style hubcaps and white painted wheels. I also have a set of late model 5 lug aluminum wheels off my sons 96 Tahoe and a set of pre-runner style aluminum wheels (the kind with the holes in the center and rivets around the edge). Still not sure what to do, I may mount up tires for each set of wheels and change them up every month or so! My truck won't be roadworthy till later in the year, putting a daughter through college tends to reduce your extra income. So maybe next year for me!
