Re: Got my 20's on tonight

I have had some questions about the specs . I used Western Chassis 2.5 drop spindles and "sopposedly" 1 inch drop coils . The coils were cheap off Ebay . New but not 1 inch so I do not know what the exact drop is . I am guessing 4.5-5 in the front . The rear is a 5 inch drop .I used 4 inch drop leafs and one more inch with shackles . I still have one more inch in the rear I can use but 5 inches seems about the right ride height . The wheels are Intro Vistas with the suede option . 20x8.5 front with 5.75 backspace and 20x10 rear with 5.25 backspace . Tires are Toyo Proxes 2 in 255/40/20 front and 295/40/20 rear . I can still bolt on all of the original suspension if I wanted to go back staoc but I dont think that will happen since I like the look and ride that it has now . I am glad I went with the 20's . Like Ken stated above , I have been moving towards the bigger wheels in baby steps but finally got there . I should have went straight there so if you are like me and considering bigger wheels , go with the 20's .

I am sure I will see you in town sometime since you are that close . Next time I get to town in it , I will see if I can find you . I actually live in Cooks Point but it barely even shows up on a map so Caldwell is whetre i tell everyone I reside . I went to the Kroger Parking lot last night in Bryan . WMJ and Earl Rudder . They meet there on Wed if you werent aware . Several real nice rides last night . I dont go often but every now and then when I get a chance .

Ken ,
The rear axle is anly about 1.5-2 inches from the factory bump stops and the shocks are almost bottomed . I need to replace the shocks but will have to find some suitable drop shocks . I have a pair but they may be too short . I ordered them with the drop leafs I installed on the tan truck but never used them .I need to look closer at the rear to see what the travel would be with a shorter bumpstop and I may take it down the other inch to see what it looks like .

Re: Got my 20's on tonight

Just a thought. I would cut off the factory bump stops. I took mine off since I did the flip kit and c notch but even before then it was lowered and the bump stop was getting beat to hell. I also used Doetsch Tech Shocks in the rear they are part number 4095G and if you would like I could measure them up for you so you can see if they would work. I got lucky and bought 2 sets off ebay for really cheap. They ride great for middle of the road set of shocks. Wish I could say the same for the front

Thanks for the response . I just went to the garage and checked . Those are the exact same shocks and part numbers I have on the shelf . I suppose I will look at them again next week some time . I remember them seeming too short for my tan truck but this one is a little lower . They may just work for me .

Re: Got my 20's on tonight

The shocks might be too short. I forgot I have the flip kit on my truck so that may make a difference. Also if you know of a decent front shock I would love to hear what they are. The front of mine is bouncy even with new shocks. They were el cheapo's though LOL.

Wow, Deadly truck. I have the same sized tires, are you having an issues with the tire rubbing the inner fender at that height?

Thanks . I have not noticed it hit the inners yet and I went over some nice dips in the road at highway speed . The 17's rubbed on the same dip and were close in height . I think the backspace migh be helping . The 17 I had were 17x8 with 4.5 bs and these are 20x8.5 with 5.75 . They set in more but also clear the fender lip better when turning.

Don't worry smashingchuck. I think I may have to take a road trip down to see Frank, and I'll return the favor and borrow the wheels for my truck!
