Re: All these lowered trucks ??
I can see this point about hacking up frames to lay frame and cutting out floors for body drops, but I`ve seen these trucks lowered since they came out. It`s totally reversable and I`ve seen that done. It`s true that fads come and go destroying would be survuvors.Like sunroofs, dashes, doors in our trucks.Or,`55 chevy rear fenderwells cut out for drag slicks,3rd tailights and other body mods on Vettes or chopped Panheads. Many have regretted what they once thought was cool.

Re: All these lowered trucks ??
If the craftsmanship is quality then it doesn't matter if it's raised or lowered. I personally like lowered but have owned raised.
A hack job is a hack job and should be punishable by flogging. And by hack job I mean using bondo to reconstruct a cab corner or wheel opening as a permanent fix. I know some do it as a temp fix (I have), or drywall screws holding a body panel on and mudding over it to hide it. Quality work should be commended even if you don't like the overall look or style of the vehicle. Just my thoughts.

Re: All these lowered trucks ??
I don't mind posting a pic. Thanks to 72bluz for such a great shot of my truck!
I do hope to one day drop it 2.5/4 or 3.5/5. Still haven't made up my mind, but no matter what I do, there will be no frame cutting... just in case. My CUTE little S-10 has been dropped a couple inches as well It needs one more inch...

It's all natural... we want to individualize our trucks plus there's always the more the better attitude.

*Cut the Dash
*Lower it *Make it REALLY FAST!!!! I dont care for matching numbers or trailer queens but thats me. We all have different tastes and what might be awesome for some might be ugly as sin to others, the samething applies to ice cream that is why baskin robins has 31 flavors

Re: All these lowered trucks ??
This makes me think of some old fogey sayin' something about "those kids and their damned rock 'n roll!"
People called that a fad too. The extremes may come and go, but attitude (and altitude adjustment) isn't going anywhere as long as hotrodding is still alive! *(Not calling anyone an old fogey!)

Re: All these lowered trucks ??
Here's a pic of one of mine. I like 4x4's raised and 2wd's lowered. I also tend to like rally style 15" rims on most of the older trucks but that's just my preference. I can appreciate other peoples modifications and the work it takes to do them even though it might not be my style.

Re: All these lowered trucks ??
I've seen it called Woodland green and dark green. The code is 505. It's a fleet color that I'm pretty sure you can still get on a new truck today.

Sorry if I offended anybody. I thought by typing "IMO" you all would understand that it is MY opinion. I thought the theme here is you can do what you want with your truck.

Re: All these lowered trucks ??
Lowered have mercy. There`s all kinds of ways to go about these trucks.I love a numbers matching stripped base truck in stock form as much as a short fleet bbc with all the bells`n`whistles. They are so right when all freshened up with a restoration.I know of a member with a base 6cyl short stepside in Woodland green with white trim,a/c p/s,p/db,and a 3sp w/od.One fine execution there.I know of Cheyenne Super shortbeds w/402,TH400,and any option you can imagine.I`m glad both these guys didn`t do permanent mods and just put them back as the General built them.I know of trucks built from scattered parts that were cloned into loaded factory form all the way to radical customs. It`s all what you like.I like them all. But,if a was into layin`frame I`d build a complete chassis and leave the original alone. And,that`s just me too. But,there are plenty of guys who would buy the short frame to convert a longbed.
I feel guys who gripe about modification and preach "leave`em stock" are no diferent than those who only like modified trucks.I`m in the middle somewhere.I have hot rod running through my veins and can`t shake it.But,time has taught me to respect the canvas I paint upon enough to keep an original vibe to it.That is what I consider a timeless approach. My only recommendation would be,whatever route you take, don`t touch it until you`ve thought the whole thing through and also know it`s what "you" will be happy with and not just taggin`along on someone else`s taste. With so many out there,it`s easy to see repetition.Don`t get too far out there just tryin`to be different and know what suits you is all I have to say about it.

Re: All these lowered trucks ??
I'm in the midst of returning my truck to stock height and appearance because I believe it helps the value and I enjoy the stock look. That said, I really liked the look and the way the truck drove with the lowered stance, big wheels/tires, etc. The previous owner used great parts and workmanship to customize the truck to suit his tastes.
The other advantage of using all stock components is never having to wonder how a modification may affect other parts. I wish I had another truck that I could move the lowering parts onto. I like the look and the drive, just not on the truck I want to be as original as possible. |

Re: All these lowered trucks ??
I have to say that we all know fads come and go... We have seen everything from the crazy panel painted vehicles with the rear all jacked up and a set of L60s on the the back from the 60's and 70's to the mono chrome, pastel colors of the 80's and 90's with "billet" stuff everywhere and now to the patina/rat rod rusted look with steel wheels and wide whites... We do what we think at the time is cool and "Has the look".. Yes these fads pass but there will always be a new fad right around the corner that people will become part of.. I must say though that cars have been being lowered since the 50's and that has never gone away... Granted now laying sheetmetal is the thing and I am sure in time it will pass I think cars and truck will be continued to be brought closer to the ground for many many years to come.. There are alot of cars and trucks out there that have been brought back fads of the years gone past.. You can do anything with the right tools and knowledge..
