Re: My new toy, dub'd "The BIG Unit" by a previous owner!
An update, but no picts Anyways the sweet 68 clip is on it and unfortunately the 5-lug got pulled the other day!? I bought the burb and intended to use the 5-lug stuff on the 2wd Blazer build I am doing for lksdcvn, so the rear is under the Blazer now. This all got my wheels a turnin' and a 4X is what I came up with!! I have a coil sprung Dana 60 with a posi and 3.54's so I'll flip the trailing arms to the top of the axle and a new set of coils to get 3-4" of lift on the rear and then some DIY4X leaf spring hangers for the front!! I am going w/the longer leafs in the front to soften the ride and add the transfer case etc. Once it is together and I enjoy it a bit, I plan to go coils for the front as well, this isn't going to be a crawler or really even a wheeler, but a capable vehicle that runs like a scalded dog, rides like a caddy and wheels when the white stuff falls, picts to come ASAP I promise!!

Check it out, updated picts with the 4X transformation starting. I flipped the rear axle from the top of the trailing arms to under them. This got me about 5-7 inches of lift in the rear, I'll buy the 52" spring install parts from DIY4x and then we'll be closer to level! Last edited by 70rs/ss; 08-03-2009 at 01:33 PM. |

Starting to come along. Isn't it fun working on these trucks outside in this August heat.

That is the one thing that always gets to me when I come back to Houston from dryer or cooler areas; the humidity. Living here it doesn't seem so bad, but when I come back from after bieng gone a couple of weeks, it feels like the air is a hot and wet blanked around you.

You barely sweat here, but that is because it evaporates kinda fast!

Very cool, but what's an "Euzkadi Radial" tire? Sounds and looks like a Soviet B.F.G. knock off. Weird.

Actually, a Mexican BFG Knockoff. This thing lived most of it's life in and around southern AZ, NM & El Paso, TX.

I used to live in Southern AZ near Nogales and we'd see all kinds of knockoffs and blems from Mexico, but never these?? They look just like a tread pattern BFG had, so??

I sold the 72 clip alreay, but if I use the buddy bucket set-up (OOPS I almost let my secret cat out of the bag!) if I decide not to keep the front seat, I'll send you the seat or the cover, pay for the ride? I like the green too, but wifey says it is an ugly 60-70's color, and I said exactly and the problem is?!
