Re: 1 ton springs? need ideas
I did one on a '90 4x4 with a buddy. we had to extend the fuel filler neck, steering shaft, raise the front and rear bumpers, and widen the manual transfer case shift lever opening in the tunnel inside the cab. just for esthetics, we prepped the frame (which was now exposed an extra 3 inches), painted it black, and installed the gap covers between the bed and the frame. It was a days work with 2 guys, basic hand tools, and some jacks

Re: 1 ton springs? need ideas
Not sure if they manufacture an extension or not, we rigged it with a bolt and loc-tite. Drilled a hole in the stock shaft. I had to do the same thing with my Jeep after the suspension lift

Re: 1 ton springs? need ideas
on this this truck the body lift was done but the wiring and spedo cable was a little short, and shift linkage was cut and lengthened
3" body, big block coils, on 32" with 30 year old ld coils

Re: 1 ton springs? need ideas
To maintain a decent ride and suspension geometry I would suggest a body lift, though they come with their own problems. I personally do not like them and won't use them.
On my 82 I ran 1 ton coils (or Diesel Coils) with no rear lift and fit 31s (no rub) and 32s (a little rub), but they were nicely within the fenderwells which I liked the look of. I did not think it rode all that rough, after all it is a truck not a caddy. As far as going with more lift, the kits you will find are typically lift coils which will pretty much max out your control arms giving no droop to the suspension. This also causes the ball joints and tie rods to operate at extreme angles. Coil spring spacers are another option but a 1" spacer will provide more than 1" lift due to geometry. You also run into the same problems as if you were running a lift coil. This is with 32"s..

Re: 1 ton springs? need ideas
heres my 1990 V3500 with 35's before I lifted it. I drove it like this for a day before the lift, and the only rubbing was at full steering lock. tires were 315/75/R16 on an 8" wide rim. So to answer your question, this pic is how your truck may look if 1 ton springs were used.

Re: 1 ton springs? need ideas
I went to a good spring shop in oshawa and, for 400 dollars.. i got my front lifted 4 inchs and the back lifted about 5 inches. they added a extra leaf on every corner...so it would keep the arch, only 400 bux lol didnt take long for them to do it either. very happy with it.

Re: 1 ton springs? need ideas
If you're just wanting 31 inch tires, they should fit no problem. If it's too low, your springs may be sagging and a set of stock replacements may get you where you want to be.

Re: 1 ton springs? need ideas
hey *****en.....what have you done with the truck?
I misse dthis thread. You should run a 3/4 or 1 ton spring and youl be fine. if not a 1 inch body lift will be easy and not real noticable. and a little fender triming wont look bad You can gte new 3/4 spings for cheap and the body lift from http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog/oneinchlift.htm I have 33's with 3/4 tons on my 1/2 ton 2wd 71 chevy with no body bushings |

Re: 1 ton springs? need ideas
Here's mine with 3/4 ton HD front coils and 3/4 ton HD rears with a 1.5 lift block. On mine the fronts basically as high as you can go without modifying the A-arms or getting a lift spindle. It does ride rougher, but by no means too rough for me. I like it, and it doesn't lean for nothing in turns.

Re: 1 ton springs? need ideas
Well every time I saved up the money to buy the big block 3/4 ton springs, something would go wrong.. Soo after I get a rear end, that's next
