I got the grill painted and put back on today. Also, I set the bed on the frame and none of the cross members line (not even close). So I started another post to ask around about it. With the bed on I can finally see the difference with the 4" drop spirngs. I was told the springs I have in the front are 2". I'm going to cut a 1/2 of a wrap out of the front springs.

This is not my house. I own a home, but still don't have this kind of room. The only downside is this place is about a 20 drive each way, but I am blessed that I have a place to this kind of work.

What do you guys think of the stock wheels. They are starting to really grow on me. I'm thinking about having them blasted and painting them flat white or off white, with white walls and replace the trim rings. What do you guys think?

I like the idea on the wheels. I can't help on the tire decision because I'm biased; blackwall out is the only choice for me.

Did you figure out the bed cross sill problem?
I ran into the same thing on our '66.
You probably have cross sills to fit the '60-62 frame. That was our problem and none of the holes lined up. Are the rear most holes too wide to even sit on the frame?

No, I haven't figured it out yet, but it sounds like you just did. Yes, the rear brackets are too far apart. The fleetbed was already on the truck when I got it so I don't know the year. I'll let you know what I find.

if you aren't too concerned about it you could drill new holes in the sills and relocate the rear brackets to fit. If it bothers you, you can replace all the cross sills.
Mar-K.com makes new ones that are high quality and made in the USA (Oklahoma city in fact)
and they are a vendor here....

Looking good!! With the bad, I had exact same issue, but reversed on my 62. The clue should have been the back up lights..lol.. But I just replaced the sills. It was easier and fairly inexpensive for the new ones. Bonus, everything lined up after that..

I've always been a fan of stock rims, and I like the original white wheel look, especially with the same color grille and bumpers. Whitewalls would look cool with the color paint you have, but are a pain to clean.

I think that's a good idea...I like the factory steelies with white walls.

Well, I decided I was going to cut my bed boards myself. I borrowed a table saw and a Rotor table (Thanks Dad and Chris). The wood was a little over $300 from Lowes.

It was very easy to do and it only took a couple of hours (just to cut them out). Installing them in the truck, with the bed on, took an entire day.

I also got the body work done on my hood today. This hood was fairly hammered. I would have just tried to find another one if I haven't already paid $75 to have this one media blasted.

Just incase you are wondering (and if you didn't see it in the prior picture) why I haven't done the cab yet...I picked up this Big Back Window Cab. It's basically a complete cab. Usual rust spots and the back has been slapped by the bed fairly hard, but I think I can fix it. I plan on leaving my truck assembled while I work on this cab and then do a cab swap. [IMG][/IMG]
