Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
The motor looks good sitting in place. I too am anxious to see it all together again. Gonna be a fun one for sure.
I love this part Bob!

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
Thanks buddy. I just went and looked at my intake and it doesnt have any provisions to mount engine covers. Guess I'll need to find a truck intake. Thanks again.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
What does the van intake look like? Just curious. Can't picture it in my head.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
It looks exactly like the truck intake except it doesnt have the copper/brass inserts in the intake to screw the engine cover down to. That was the only difference I could see. No, I dont have any covers yet, still looking for some Escalade covers.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
So, in a sense, the van intake is a little cleaner. But your hoses, wires, etc are exposed. Are you just going to look for a used intake & covers set, or buy new ones?

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
Used is fine. I have found a few on ebay and such but since I still need headers, and send off my harness and ecu I couldnt justify buying it right now. If anyone has one they're not using let me know

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
Well, I guess any progress is good progress. I got all the accessory brackets as well as the accessories painted today during lunch. Painted all the brackets aluminum, alternator and A/C compressor as well as the valve covers gloss black to match the block. Was going to try to get them all mounted tonight and get a picture of the completed engine but will have to wait till I pull the engine and trans back out to powerwash and paint the frame, hopefully will have the engine and trans in for the final time this weekend.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
did you take the power steering pulley off to paint the bracket? and how did you paint the alt.? just spray it or take it apart. i've been going back and forth about taking it apart. seems like thats all i do is take stuff apart and i'm not even sure if it works or runs!

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
Yes, took the P.S. pulley off so I could remove the pump and paint the bracket. As for the alt., I just painted it after alot of taping. I'm not sure if it would matter or not if I painted it and paint got all over the windings or not so I just taped it. Almost looks powder coated. Pretty sweet looking.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
I left the PS pump on and just masked it off to paint the bracket, then masked everything else off to paint the pulley. On the ALT I masked the pulley and taped the black part around the middle to keep it black looking, then later masked everything else so I could paint the pulley. Here, you can borrow my new camera phone:

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
I know I know, I will try to get pics as soon as possible. I'm hoping to have the engine and trans fully assembled and installed this weekend. Patience Grasshopper, patience. I love that camera phone, very funny.
