Re: '52 GMC custom/S-10 swap
Yep, if you are using and S10 and NOT one of the AD Engineering type kits that puts the body way up in the air, you'll need to shorten the rad support or kick it out. We kicked our '54 out like 6" at the bottom. I'm not doing that again. I've got a chopped mount already so I want details on the radiator here.
If you've got a part number, I'd appreciate it! |

Re: '52 GMC custom/S-10 swap
Googled it but nothing. Radiator barn shows a '67 V8 'stang with about 19.6 x 20.25" I'd heard that was the one a long time ago but not certain.

Re: '52 GMC custom/S-10 swap
I've heard the 60's mustang rads are the ones that fit like that one.

Re: '52 GMC custom/S-10 swap
Nick, 6 or 8? I'm looking at the V8 and all I see are passenger side in/out with the top and bottom tanks. The 72 and up go to side tanks. I'll go back and cruise the 6s...

Re: '52 GMC custom/S-10 swap
I'm not too sure. I know that a hand full of guys on the hamb use them. Maybe ask around there? Sorry I'm not much help on the subject.

Re: '52 GMC custom/S-10 swap
I'm heading over to ask. I just looked at all of the 60's through 1970 radiators at radiatorbarn.com Size is about right, the hose location is wrong (opposite or only on passenger side).

Re: '52 GMC custom/S-10 swap
Speedway motors has inexpensive aluminum rads that are offered with necks on the pass side or opposing sides.

Re: '52 GMC custom/S-10 swap
just a thought, but you may want to consider welding up the unused hole in the center of those motor mounts. I'm sure they're plenty strong, but they make a weak spot that could possibly crack. It might not, but I wouldn't risk it.
That motor looks great!

Lookin good!
How strong do you think those factory 4.3 mounts are? I did the same thing you did but I am a little worried about those factory mounts with my setup. |

Re: '52 GMC custom/S-10 swap
i think there plenty strong as long as yours ain't tore to sh!t,.my S-10 had a V-8 already in it and it had some miles on it,so i'm not worried about the 4.3.mounts at all,... not sure what YOU should do,.. if it keeps you up at night change em...

Re: '52 GMC custom/S-10 swap
I'd expect them to be the same part number for a V8 and an S10. But then again, I'm a supplier to GM and see what dumb duplication is done every day...

Re: '52 GMC custom/S-10 swap
If memory serves right... that rad is from a 78 Mustang II. I'm going for one from a 69 Mustang with both inlets on the passenger side, infront of my 4.3, it's just a simple hose reroute and not that big of an issue.
Cheers, Ted.
