Re: Grandfathers 61

Even if you decide to go with what your dad had for the wheels, I'll keep an eye out for the original 61 hubcaps here. Just in case.

Re: Grandfathers 61

Are the hubcaps only for 61, or did they use them on other years also?

60 and 61 only. I know a place here in portland that has all 4. It is called Old Car parts. Ask for Joey. They have them on the shelf, used of course. Two are chrome and two are painted but they are decent.

Re: Grandfathers 61

It is good to see someone else rebuilding their grand dads truck. My grandfather gave me his 63 and I drove it for a few years, then college and girls got in the way. Now I finally have a job where I can afford to give it the love it needs. I just need to find the time to get it from South Carolina to Texas. Here are some pics.

That is awesome this truck is not my grandads just one like it. It is close enough for me though. Wish I could help you get it here. You may have to make a quick trip.

Re: Grandfathers 61

Hey guys, the correct hubcap I believe should look like the photos below, but with a bowtie. Those are the caps I was talking about at Old Car Parts. They have the other ones that you pictured above too, but I don't think those are correct for '61. maybe factorystock can chime in.....

Re: Grandfathers 61

Here is a page from a 1961 brochure for sale on eBay. You can clearly see the correct style of hubcaps.

Edit: They are not reproduced. I ended up with the chrome set I have for my '63 by searching eBay and swap meets and buying them one at a time until I had a complete set of presentable caps.

LOL, yep. We did get caught in some of it but it wasn't too bad. I hope to start on it tomorrow. It has been so freakin hot down here it is almost too much to work out in. I plan to remove the front clip tomorrow and get the bed off.

Re: Grandfathers 61

revoh is correct about the hubcaps.1961,62,and 63 are the same.1960 are not.1960 and earlier trucks used the 1959 style hubcap which was held on with clips attached to the rim.1961 up attach to the rim with the bump style ears on the rim.
