Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

OK, a lot has been going on, just can't see most of it. My friend Matt is doing a great job on re-wiring the truck. I have been cleaning parts and ordering parts. Did something simple today, cleaned up the alternator and blasted/painted the pulleys. Not much but something.

wow! that's crazy hacking on the motor mount. Must have wanted to use some drop down headers that weren't quite right for the truck?

Hey Mike, yes it was cobbled for sure. Have the correct stands on the shelf now. Hoping to blast and paint them tonight.

OK, time to get back to work on the truck. Been kind of busy doing things around the shop and house. Plans for today, new mounts. That should help us decide what manifolds/headers to go with.

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

Did something simple, yet hard, last night. Have a good friend who just hates rubber fuel line and gives everyone a hard time about. He has a point and i do value his opinion. So, i tried my hand at plumbing. It turned out OK, for now. A little aluminum engine paint on that compression fitting will help a lot I think.

Probably one of the best 'bang for the buck" projects. New lens, bezel and printed circuit. Quick and easy.

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

Hey Mike, thanks again for the words of encouragment. Wasn't much to miss for a while, we kind of got busy with real life. We should be able to make a little progress every couple of days now, not much, but a little. And, we are FOR SURE low budget. Say hey to everyone in the great state of OKLAHOMA for us. Thanks, Fred.

Yeah, we like things uncomplicated. Love all the high tech rigs on here and am impressed with everyones abilities to run all the latest computerized combos, just not our style. Thanks, Fred.

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

Hey Mike. The exhaust is just an exhaust system, nothing special, just ran it out the back and dumped under the bumper. Sorry I haven't been giving regular updates. Playing grandpa, selling auto parts for my real job and selling stuff for people on the internet has had me covered up. But, I aint complaining, glad to have a good job, steady income and grandkids to love. It is good to be me...

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

I like the new truck better, nice choice on the upgrade.

I have the same headers that were on the 454 when you got the truck. I had the same motor mount stand clearance problem too. I ended up fabricating my own stand that cleared the tubes when I had them in my 67 C10.

I kept breaking the original style mounts on my old big block truck so this time around on my 69 stepside project I used square body clamshell type stands instead and they clear the header tubes perfectly. The design is much stronger than the older style and easier to work with too.

I believe your new truck is a big window 67 and not a 68 unless someone filled in all the marker lamp holes.

Hey 68 TT. Good eye on the marker lights. It is a 68, just has 67 fenders and the bedside lamps filled.
