Re: Painted my cab and fenders!!!!

Truck looks great! Love the color combo. Are you going to paint the bed and the rest of the body panels at the same time and do you think the paint will match the cab and fenders? I'm thinking about doing my truck the same way because I don't want to try to paint all those pieces at the same time.

Thanks!
I'm rolling the dice. I hope it all matches. I mix the same shade of sealer each time I spray a panel. I did spray the fenders the same time as the cab/doors (in a different booth though. I have 2 booths). So they appear to match good. I will spray the hood and the cowl panel at the same time. Then the bed. I made 1 1/2 gallons on un reduced paint (about $650 worth of paint) and make sure I shake it VERY good each time I use it.
I sprayed my last truck in pieces at different times, but it was a darker more forgiving color.

I like the color combo. Here is a nice 60 Chevy wagon with a similar paint scheme.

Re: Painted my cab and fenders!!!!

I stumbled on to pictures of your truck yesterday on an ad you have on Craigslist. I love the paint! I also live in St. Pete. and look forward to seeing this truck at all of the local shows and cruise-ins. Nice job.

Re: Painted my cab and fenders!!!!

wow, that is very close. Funny thing is to is that I just got in the same wheels (Boss 338), except in black. Have the rear mounted. Front tires are coming in today.
My maiden voyage late today if all goes good. 8 months in the making.

Re: Painted my cab and fenders!!!! UPDATE: The Maiden Voyage!!

A big day today. My maiden voyage. Got my front tires in today, had them mounted in less than an hours (thanks to Ace Tire in St Pete). Man, those BF Goodrich G-Force tires are VERY hard to find, both the old and new tread. Anyway, it was a very exciting day. And yes, now it really resembles the wagon...except black Boss wheels instead of gray....and my black is a black satin clearcoat

Everything went smooth. Love the power steering!

I have a video. See if I can post it here in the next couple of days. If not, it will be on my 'updates' section of my website (see my sig)

Re: Painted my cab and fenders!!!!

Looks beautiful !!! Could you give me some direction on the process to two tone the cab? My son and I are working on a 66 and we are about ready to paint. It will be yellow with a white top half. My head is spinning trying to decide the best way. Paint the inside, then paint the outside yellow, then paint the white? Did you spray it with the doors on?

Re: Painted my cab and fenders!!!!

i'm glad you mentioned the black is satin - I didn't notice when I first looked at the pics. I think it looks killer (everything, not just the satin), really nice paint job. that thing is gonna jump out at folks at car shows.

Arrow Re: Painted my cab and fenders!!!!

Thanks guys!
Did quite a bit since those pics.
Had my orig trim polished and installed that, along with installing the hood

Working on the bed now along with door glass (my forth set of glass).
First and second set were cut too short, then I had laminated glass cut at a local shop and it was too thick.

Re: Painted my cab and fenders!!!!

What about doing the chevrolet letters in the grille in chrome to accent the front and to match the custom cab trim? Just a thought.

All I can say is, I love it. What color interior will you put in it? Black I assume.

Re: Painted my cab and fenders!!!!

I plan on doing the interior in somesort of tan and black...maybe I thought of all black, but probably add another color in there. I like 'nonblack' interiors. Had a C5 Vette that was Medium Spiral Gray with a Torch Red interior.

Thought about doing the letters in a silver or chrome, but not for sure on that either. I do like it all black. I still have to do the Custom on the piller trim in black. I already did every other line in black since that pic was taken

@hardhead
Can't remember if I got back with you on that (sorry if I didn't)
You're probably done painting by now...
I would spray the inside and outside all in the yellow. Then mask off the yellow, then do the white. Then clearcoat all at once. Quite a job to do like that though. OR, you can do the inside all at once (base and clear), then mask it off very good. Then do the outside yellow, then maks it, then the white, then just clearcoat the complete outside.
You could spray it with the doors on or off.

How about a silver interior? The same tone as the green, not lighter nor darker, same......

Maybe black with tan piping or tan with black piping. Like this:

Just some ideas for you.

BTW I love red interior in Vettes. With Spiral Gray it looks awesome.
