Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

Wife is picking up a RH fender, RH rocker panel, RH cab corner, cab support and some other small stuff (thanks craigslist). I am planning on putting in the 700R4 and exhaust, then i will concentrate on finishing my 72. I need the TH350 from this to go back in my 72. At least it is driveable now.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

Thanks, I had more pictures but my computer had some issues and i lost them. I did mudding and such on part of it. The cab itself had some one the top of the cab a little dent, and below the rear window. The dr fender had a little rust repair and some dents. Both the doors were skimmed over due to small dents here and there. The passanger fender and box i just skuffed and painted so it was all the same color, still needs to be reworked. The hood is still nasty, but a found a different one so i will replace that eventually. The paint is nothing special its tractor supply valspar black tractor paint, thined with naptha and mixed with oil base hardaner, takes a while to dry, but suits just fine for this project. It does wet sand and buff, i tried it on part of the hood just for fun.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

I originally got the truck for the motor and parts, but after i sold my dodge truck and out 97 Cherokee it turned into my daily driver, i didn’t want to leave the wife at home with both the kids and no vehicle while i was at work. After driving it for a bit i know it needed some help, was kind of scary when i first got it, i looked into the parts and realized they were only half the price of the 67-72 ones, and i was able to get so much of what i needed at the junk yard, it quickly turned into 1. make it safe, 2 make is presentable, 3 make it reliable/practical.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

Thanks trout, today has been a busy day of bargin shopping. I scored a 4" lift spindle (88-98) for $100, a set of 01 16" silverado rims for $100. My wife will be picking up the spindles, gas tank, dual exhaust and rims this weekend.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

Picked up my dual exhaust and rims, turns out the exhaust is a dynomax dual header back without mufflers, not bad for $80.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

Ordered my headers, balance tube, mufflers, tips, 02 bungs, trans temp guage, and some tranny assembly goo. It will be nice to have a soild exhaust for once. Also got a VSS spedometer for the conversion.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

Have been doing some planning; looking at a 2" suspension lift, 2" body lift, 33" tires, rebuild the 700r4, swap the axles, 4.10 gears, rebuild the TBI heads and TBI body, dual tanks, finish the body work, have fun
