Re: How much to sell your truck

None of mine are for sale at any price, just because someone offered to buy. If and when I decide to buy I'll set the price and list it. I'd have to have one I like more than mine to run and buy with money to spare. I never sell this way. I know what I have and money doesn't replace it. I don't see money when I look at my truck.

OK, I have to change my story here (post #6). I was driving the '39 Ford Coupe last week and I stopped at the local convenience store to get a Coke. This guy comes over to me as I am getting into the car and asks me what it is worth. I told him 27.5. We get to talking and he asks if I have any other cars. I said yes and told him what I had. He asks if any of them are for sale I said all of them except for the '36 Ford Coupe. He ends up following me home and falls in love with the White '67 Shortie. Long story short he came back today and paid me for it.... So that is two serious parking lot buyers in the last 45 years. The average is going up...

Re: How much to sell your truck

I bought mine for a weekender - something to haul gardening stuff, lumber, etc. I decided the old gal could use some freshening up, and wanted to stop the rusting process. Well, one thing lead to another, and pretty soon the whole thing is blown apart.

And thanks to this forum, I sure have met a lot of people in the process of finding replacement parts. Putting it together has been like a treasure hunt, and at the end of it all, I've got something that would be hard for me to part with. BUT having said that, if I sold it, I'd have some fundage to do it all over again. $30K would make me think pretty serious about it.

Re: How much to sell your truck

Well I wouldn't take anything less then 25,000, unless it was one of my brothers, but the reason behind this is my grandpa bought the truck brand new, and then this is the first engine I have ever built. So the truck means a ton to me and my family.

Re: How much to sell your truck

The guy I sold my blue truck to has already been by my house and asked to buy my hugger orange truck that's not even finished yet. Offered me the same as he paid for the other one, tempting but not sure I really want to sell it.

On a side note, this weeekend at the GoodGuys show, I came back to my car, a '33 Ford, and the people sitting next to me said a guy was asking if my car was for sale, they said he came by several times. So I waited for him to come back, which he did. When he asked, I said I didn't want to sell it, but a ridiculous amount would probably buy it. He asked what a ridiculous amount was, I said 100k, he said yeah that's ridiculous and walked away!

I have my truck insured for over $80,000. It would take somewhere near that, and I hope I never have a claim!

Re: How much to sell your truck

I always tell people mine's not for sale. I turned down $30K, so if someone wer to start "offering" more than $50K, I'd start listening to them. I also have lots of memories in my truck that would be gone with it. My wife tells me that we've had too many fights over it to sell it now.

I think I'd say $20 g's+ as it sits, crazy? If I don't get it finished soon I might flog it based on impatience and the want to cruise SOMETHING someday.

Well Im trying to sell my truck right now and cant seem to get any bites at $9,000, so I guess Im going to have to try a lower price.... What do you guys think? Am I too high or is there just too many choices at this price point?

No way thats too high for your truck, the economy right now and gas prices may be effecting the lack of interest. I would hang onto it unless you just have to have the money right now.

Re: How much to sell your truck

Thanks Gene, I appreciate the input, the truck appraised for $11,200 in 2008... but I guess that was a "different" time.

I am trying to sell the truck because it just sits in my garage, I make the payment every month and dont really have any good "use" for it, I have other projects and things in my life that I want to do. I mostly wanted to pay off some debt and buy a house, but I also cant take a loss on the truck because it still has a loan out on it.

Re: How much to sell your truck

I actually think about this from time to time, not really wanting to sell my rig. I'm having too much fun to let it go, but everything DOES have it's price. For now, under $20K and you won't get the time of day, $25K and I'd have a hard time walking away...

Re: How much to sell your truck

I've thought about this over the last several days. I've been asked a couple of times what it would take to buy the dually, and my reply has been 30K. I'm not trying to sell it, and would hate to see someone else driving "My Truck" away, but I'm realistic enough to know that even though it's not actually on the market, and I have quite a bit of $$ wrapped up in it, it's not the last truck on earth. When I brought it home, my wife and a couple of bud's asked me "...what in the world are you going to do with that thing?" I just told them I was going to build something a little out of the main stream. I did that, but I haven't adopted the "I'll keep it forever" attitude. From the practical side, selling it would allow another project.......they say at my age keeping the mind active is critical...

Re: How much to sell your truck

I have only had one guy ask me about my '68. I didnt think he was to serious so I didn't come up with anything. I would sell my Blazer for the right price. Which is probably more than it's worth but I was thinking 4500. I always say everything is for sale for the right price.
Hey 6772owner. Steppers have been growing on me and to have one a 4x4 dang thats a beautiful truck. It would be a great replacement for my Blazer.
