Yeah I am just having fun... I was saying to lightly sand to make uniform surface before painting if not stripping completely down... I have talked to plenty of people about these consoles man.. I am sure you have perfected your technique...I was merely trying to answer the member's question.. .If you have a better answer feel free to chime in...Thanks!!!

Re: 5 consoles...various stages ALL SOLID!!!

Looks good. So did you primer and paint or bead blast or hand (chemical) strip? I definitely would never hit these with sandpaper either so that confused me too...I try to keep the grain as deep as possible. That's why I prefer chemical strip vs bead blasting also.

I was speaking of the interior tough spots... and I was suggesting to VERY LIGHTLY hit with like 600 grit. This was just meant to be suggestion ONLY for consoles not being stripped and just painted over to achieve max adhesion and uniform surface.. That was all I meant.I was not trying to sabotage the guys project or anything like that.. Now check out the LID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh yes chemical strip is the way to go... Messy and painstaking but WOW! Thanks Jonathan

Re: 5 consoles...various stages ALL SOLID!!!

grain looks real good. Probably a little on the shiny side like you said...but I'm going to paint the one for my truck to match the truck (shiny paint to match the exterior and interior metal color)...I'm going to take one needing repair and repair it then sand the whole thing smooth and see how it comes out

Yeah I see you mentioned that idea on your console thread...I bet it will look slick...literally!!! lol I am going to dull the shine if the customer prefers... Just depends on if you want that custom look I guess or sharp original... Its the hardener I used...

Re: 5 consoles...various stages ALL SOLID!!!

Got my console in from HeavyMetal Chevy last night. Took a little soap and water to it and id say she cleaned up pretty nice. Quality of the console and the trim pieces are excellent. No rust or pitting in the chrome at all. Definitely would not hesitate to buy anything else from him again! Answered all of my questions. Excellent guy to deal with

Re: 5 consoles...various stages ALL SOLID!!!

3 seatbelt consoles on deck....

One SUPER NICE!!! no holes...Perfect bowtie emblem and nice grain... ashtray and stainless inlay good shape.. Bezel ring needs polished...$175 shpped

Other two have MINOR repair and grain will still match... Will have new billet ashtray/trim inlay... Any color of choice $375 shipped

I also have med. blue original strap/seatbelt holder inserts which rest inside molded console for buckles.. I will include those and paint same color for $400 shipped
