Re: copper lines with accuair setup ??

either do copper or the soft fuel cell alumiunum if you want to use the 3/8 ptc fitting pre fit on your valve block or you will have to change the fittings. pretty much block off the front ptc fittings and us the ones on the back of the valve block if you want to use SS. then you will need all the fittings and connections...(thats the more $$ way.) Im using polished copper ill put pics up when done(its goes with the theme of the truck)....and polished copper looks awesome also, there is a rouge that is perfect for copper I think the name of the company is called "master formula" I watched them polish a copper keg and it was incredible when done.

My wheels will be going out to have the centers of the spokes sandcasted so I can have them painted and flat cleared. but should be abel to throw up some updates on the chassis soon

Re: copper lines with accuair setup ??

trust me, I cant wait either......just want to get this chassis done 100% so I can move on.....still have lots of little things to do, like all the brake line plumbing and have to get creattive do hide all wireing.....im treating this like its some super show sponsored truck but in fact its going to be drivin daily. thats why the chassis is all satin so touch up is easy peasy, and all the air ride components are closely located so it can be worked on at any time.....maybe Ill get a magazine article but definetly not in the plans....I also have no car club affiliation so this thing is all me.....lone wolf! my wife has been a huge help being I work full time and have little time...plus I get those days where i want to work on the truck but as soon as i change and go in the garage i change my mind....lol Im sure you understand. ......soon as the lines are plumbed I will get ya pics....the wheels I will email as I dont want many to know about them. Im not looking foward to the polishing part of the copper but its gotta be done.....just polish one of your line fittings and you will seee.....its sexy!

Re: copper lines with accuair setup ??

Any concerns with then powdercoating the aluminum or steel lines? Fitting fitmen would be a concern I guess.

Anyone with experience doing this?

Re: copper lines with accuair setup ??

i am considering painting mine when i am done so they will just blend in to the frame and just leave the last 1/2 where the push in masked off

Re: copper lines with accuair setup ??

you could powdercoat the lines, but you wouldn't want them to move after or you could crack the pc.

Re: copper lines with accuair setup ??

so I learned somehthing about using these copper and aluminum lines with PTC fittings.... make sure they are super secure so they do not move and also measure back about 1/4" back so the PTC fitting can bite into the material and not push back under pressure....so those whom are doing this just some advice as I did full copper on mine and each line was leaking at the fittings come to find out it was because the fittings were not completely biteing under pressure.

Re: copper lines with accuair setup ??

are you saying they were leaking because they were bent to tight so then they wouldnt push in far enough ?

Re: copper lines with accuair setup ??

no, i pushed them in first and bent from there, then disconnected the ending fitting and inserted on the line and reinsalled to the bag....all my connections are swivels. my were leaking because there was no good "bite" on the metal....but when I scored them and installed the same way because I already have all my bends done i set up the rest in dot and tested the one aluminum line and at full pressure aird up it did not leak at all

Re: copper lines with accuair setup ??

you can try it without scoring it first and see if you get better luck than I did, but in my situation that is what happen....Also I made a clamp out of wood, I drilled a 3/8 hold in it pice of spare wood and then cut it in half down the middle of the hole I drilled, clamp the coil to a vise(i used an old 3/8 ptc on the vice and put the line in that so I didnt smash any of the line) and then put the two pieces of wood around the line and pull...that will straighten it, I just did them in the lengths as needed but worked great and left not markings on the metal.

Re: copper lines with accuair setup ??

We use copper lines for a lot of our pneumatic equipment at work. Some see over 140 PSI. We use stainless on all of the co2 lines and some of those are even higher than that. I can't see it being an issue.

Re: copper lines with accuair setup ??

if anyone is interested snap on sells a tube straightner for like 100.00 if can get the part number if needed... when I did my copper I used it because i can only get up to ten feet of type L copper(thats the correct to use) and I did not want to flare them and make more connections so I ended up buying a roll of copper from mcfadden dales and got the straightner from snap-on.

Re: copper lines with accuair setup ??

takes just under 5 feet to do the rears from where I have the valve mounted and about 30 to do the fronts...but I would recomend to get 90ft if you are just starting out, you will use it like mike said....so Ill keep it for emergency. Im re doing my tank set up with the exo kit and dual 3 gallons so Ill be re doing some of the connections.. I also swithced over to an fittings and flared the copper for extra security but it wont leak if you use a parker or equivelint PTC fitting. just make it stable and secure so it does not move or you will need to run a braided line from the bag mounts to the hardline.
