i have thought about calling them but just figured it wouldn't get me anywhere. i have ordered a few small parts from classicparts with no problems so may just try that route. And thanks for the compliments i wish i could afford to drive it more but going to college full time and having a part time job doesnt leave me with much extra cash lol 4 more months then its time for the real world

Ha, I love it! Putting your truck to work...as it should be. You've got a nice original engine bay too.

Exhaust appointment scheduled for friday morning. I'm going with true dual exhaust with 2.5" pipe using flowmaster 40 series mufflers and no show tips in the bed corners $340 installed

My guess is that your truck got an axle swap early on to give better gear ratios for the road. Otherwise it would either have 4.11 or 4.57. I've never heard of a 67-72 3/4 ton to have anything but 8 lug axles. Maybe it was a type of thing where the dealer drove it around some before the original owner bought it and the dealer thought it would do better for highway driving with 1/2 ton axles. Its hard to say what the original story was, but it is a rare piece indeed.

To the original poster:

Awesome truck. Do you know what gear ratio the axles are?

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"

Haven't been on in a while. I got moved to Tulsa and stuck in an apartment for 7 months. I recently bought a house with a garage! Nothing like being in debt till 2043 but on a good note the 72 will soon be moving to Tulsa with me so I can start driving it more. Last weekend and changed out the old plugs and put new belts on it. It got a new windshield today but they broke it while putting it in so they will be coming back tomorrow to try again. So maybe in the next few weeks I will get it down here. Some off the next few projects on it will be a more comfortable seat, thinking 95-98 bench with folding armrest, and new shocks. Any suggestions on a good set reasonably priced shocks for a stock height truck?

Picked up a bench seat out of a 90's Chevy truck. No arm rest but driver quality seat for $150 not to shabby I don't think

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"

Well my parents brought my truck down to me Friday night. Dad said the steering belt was slipping so i tightened it up and no more squeaks. Next i removed the old seat and cleaned out the cab. I put the new seat in for a test fit. The front 2 bolts lined up but i will have to fab some brackets for the back. In the mean time i took it for a test drive to see how the seat felt and the truck started over heating. So today i changed out the thermostat and no more over heating. The old one was froze up. I also had a side marker light that was out so i started messing with it and found a wire pulled out of the plug. O'Riellys carries the side maker light plugs in stock so i got that fixed. My house doesn't have 220v plug in the garage so im going to have to find some one in the Collinsville/Tulsa area that will let me borrow a welder for about 20 minutes once i get the brackets cut so i cab weld them to the seat frame.

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"

So tonight i decided it would be much easier to just dill two new hole in the floor and put some big washers on the bolts. I also spaced the seat up off the floor in the rear about 5/8" to help the seat set a little more level. The truck is now ten time more comfortable to drive and im happy with the fittment.

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"

This weekend i traded a non running 4.3 out of a 89 chevy for a really nice 72 chrome front bumper. I got it put on last night and snapped a few pics today but for some reason i can not access my photobucket account so pics to follow sometime some hopefully.

I also replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses tonight because ever since i changed the thermostat i have a a small leak from the upper hose.

Any suggestions on a good set of shocks?

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"

Good progress! I like the way that seat looks. I got Bilstiens from off road design. You'd probably have to put on the F250 extended front shock mounts to run them but the ride is great.

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"

I have been having problems with my truck being slow to turn over when it gets hot. I did a bunch of reading and decided to check the timing. So tonight i bought a timing light and started checking. It was set at 14 degrees so i backed it down to 10 degrees and now no more problems. So i snapped a couple pics will i had her out.
