Re: 5.3 swap with a few pictures...
Well the fuel lines and pump are all done.. Literally everything except the exhaust and harness for the engine is complete. Still waiting on the harness to arrive... I took Thursday and Friday off work to get this truck completed.. Hopefully a startup video this weekend.

Re: 5.3 swap with a few pictures...
for those of you who are interested in doing this and saving a little bit of money, though not time, check out lt1swap.com they have all the info to convert the standard harness over yourself, there are also a couple videos on youtube on how to do this, take your time routing the wire and you can hide almost all of it, especially if you get the 3 piece engine cover off a denali or escalade. And for those of you who can wait you can see process on my build page too at the end of this month/beginning of next month.

Re: 5.3 swap with a few pictures...
oh, and awesome work by the way! what did you do for tank/pump? I have been looking into the tank/in-tank pump combo out of a 97 tahoe trying to see if it will work

Re: 5.3 swap with a few pictures...
For those watching this... IT"S ALIVE! got the harness today at 3:30 and had it fired by 4:30. Of course I cheated and just ran the wires to the battery, now I have to mount everything , get the exhaust done and clean it up! I did have my 10 year old son shoot a video...did I mention he was 10? video = fail......
For anyone wanting to do this swap.. Don't be scared... It's easy and I certainly don't have any crazy skills besides swapping a few engines over the years.

Re: 5.3 swap with a few pictures...
I had the factory harness converted and computer flashed for $340 from a guy in Arkansas. However, he is not a board member so I can't post it. Trying to convince him to become a vendor on here.

Everytime I watch someone do an LS swap, it makes me feel more confident in doing it when I need to in the future!!!

Re: 5.3 swap with a few pictures...
Its easier than what you might think. Read up on a few Fuel system options (bunch), cooling and get a harness and go.

Been thinking about doing this too. Looks great! Did you keep the 700r4?

Re: 5.3 swap with a few pictures...
No, I bought the needed adapter/flex plate and decided to go ahead and use the 4L60E I got with the engine combo.

Re: 5.3 swap with a few pictures...
A few final pictures of the swap. It gets the exhaust done in the morning and its back to enjoying it again... The engine covers are getting painted body color at some point and currently redoing the interior with Buddy Buckets, upgraded stereo and etc.. It really is never ending.

Re: 5.3 swap with a few pictures...
THAT LOOKS AWESOME. Every time I see someone do a swap like this I want to tear my truck apart. I really like the TPI set up that I have but this would be even better. I wish someone made a kit with everything required to do the swap. I hate chasing after parts all the time.

Making a pre-packaged kit would be kind of cool. However, so many variations on these setups its crazy.

Re: 5.3 swap with a few pictures...
Hey, your engine looks great! I see you planned very well for this swap. It is one of the fastest I've seen done on here.
10-4 on the prepackage kit. It would have to come with a programmer to adust the pcm to the indvidual pieces; motor displacement and aspiration, tranny, rear diff. etc. etc. |

Re: 5.3 swap with a few pictures...
Nice Job....although my engine only has around 2k miles, I would consider a swap also...maybe after I get interior done and paint this spring...what years for the 6.0 or 6.2 swap with tranny are the best? Anyway nice job!
