Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
That's the long and short of it, yes. You will also need a certain amount of patience! This is do-able, but isn't just a couple hour job. It takes some fiddeling with it to get everything just right.

What did you snag those light fixtures out of? Those don't look like the ones in my cluster.

I will help everyone with any problems you may encounter when doing this, but all the questions will have to be posted in this thread. That way if somebody else has the same question, it's in the thread and anyone can see it.

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
THey are actually out of a '65 chevy. They are sockets that ground to the tin, just like the heater control light in a '67-'72.

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
How do you go about getting the original numbers off the gauge face before you painted the new ones on? Sanded or what? Thanks.

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
Couple of questions:
1.) what kind/brand of paint is it you are using to airbrush the stencil? 2.) Is that a factory or aftermarket tach you are using? Did you have to modify it to work on an LS motor? 3.) any chance you have a wiring diagram of what you made? Thanks for sharing this modification. |

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
Yes, there are more available.

2) It's an aftermarket tach, you just need to set the tach resolution from 6 to 3 in the tune. This doubles the signal sent to the tach since LS motors puit out a 4 cylinder tach signal. 3) I can make a diagram, but basically I just wired it like the printed circuit, with a few changes, like the voltmeter rather than the ammeter.

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
Yes, it's just a repop of an original, nothing fancy needed to make the tach work.
