Re: More Desirable: 3 On The Tree or Automatic

Auto is more desirable now a days with almost no regaurd to what it's in. I looked at quite a few mustangs that were 4 speeds, and even a few camaros and a firebird that were 4 speeds that were converted to a Th350/400 or most had been swapped with a 700R.

I put a 700R in my truck and thought about putting a 5 speed in it, but after having it in the truck I'm going to leave it alone. My 67 bird however... is going from an auto to a Tremec 5 speed, already got a pedal assembly, bell housing, and all the clutch Z bar stuff

Is it just an upper midwest thing or are 3OTT generally hard to find in LWB trucks?
My 3OTT was a 350 and a longbox. I actually swapped it out for a 4-speed though. Like mrein I pulled a boat a lot and the low gear on the 4-speed was a huge improvement. For cruising the 3OTT is a lot of fun, for towing it just isn't geared correctly unless you have some really low (high numerically) gears.
