The bumpers originally had the letters highlighted in red when they were new.

Re: Dealer engraved rear bumper??

Don't worry so much about the title. Mine is a New Hampshire truck and titles weren't even issued then. I lived in upstate NY for a while and couldn't get a title when I asked because they didn't issue them until '73. I am now in Tennessee and I casually asked for a title and I got one simply because I asked for one.

As far as the bumper, I saw my first one a few weeks back on someone's '65 and was quite intrigued and the first thing to come to mind was are they still around?

It's another D&D bumper from Sequin. Under the bumper stickers it says:
GEO PHARIS CHEVROLET / HEARNE TEXAS

Thread resurrection, I love these bumpers. Mine says Ramsey Chevrolet, Bixby Oklahoma. 65’ Long Bed. Made by Ruffneck which still seems to be very much in business.

Good find. I say restore that truck for shows and cruises. Some states have special permits to drive something like a junk certificate for shows and cruises and can't be used for daily driving. California has a special license plate that can only be used for shows/cruises.

I think the dealer stampings are pretty neat.

Re: Dealer engraved rear bumper??

I would love to know the stories about what changes in the owners life took the trucks to where they are now.

I filled the stamping on the bumper on my 72 right after I bought the truck new. Nothing to do with the dealer, I just wanted a smooth look.

Re: Dealer engraved rear bumper??

Sorry to bring up a dead thread but my 64 has a dealer bumper from Bandera, TX - Adams Chevrolet.

I was thinking they might be rare but seems like they were all the rage back in the day in TX.

I have been asking Several metal suppliers in my area the same question.
I get the same answer from them all.
It is no longer available.
They all said (No one has ask for that in a long time).

Re: Dealer engraved rear bumper??

Any decent metal retailer should have diamond plate or be able to get it. My local supplier (California, which doesn't help you much) has it. It looks like Home Depot carries it, but it's aluminum only, as far as I can tell.

I have some ruff stuff that I have saved for one of my next projects.

The Square in the top picture

The rest of my project gets the Diamond Tread readily availably anywhere.

Re: Dealer engraved rear bumper??

Now that my lettering is repainted as it was originally, it’s easier to make out the dealer name. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

How did you repaint the lettering?

I redid mine and used nail polish but it isn't near as nice as yours. I haven't put the bumper on yet so no updated pics.

Mine says, Sanger MTR Company Sanger, Texas

Great bumper! That’s the style I remember having on our pickups when I was a kid. I like that square tread plate. Friendly Chevrolet must have used Ruffnecks.

I paid a local guy who does pinstriping to paint mine. He already had the right paint and the skills. I also asked him to peel the tailgate stickers and paint the lettering on it but he’s still waiting on his white paint to arrive.
