Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
been thinking a lot about the paint job on the truck, originally i was thinking just matte black with some blue accents. i also want to shave the handles and the marker lights. the problem i am having is accenting with the blue is hard to do when there is no trim down the side of the truck. i thought about pin striping and still kinda like the idea but with that i was also feeling like the truck will also need some contrast as well. so here is my idea: doing a "factory" style paint job with the matte black as the base and a gloss black as the secondary color with the blue molding or blue pin striping. what does everybody think?

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
STOP RIGHT THERE! Go right now and get one of your dust shields and try it on. If it doesn't fall right on and lay right down on your mount pads, you're gonna have to grind hell out of the bottom side of the upright to get them to fit/wheel to go on and seat and turn. Had the same problem with the CPP spindles on Yeller. Word to the wise. Our Pass one was fine, Driver's was AFU. At least it was oversize and only cost me 2.5 hrs of grind and fit. Good luck, progress looks great!

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
The spindles I ordered were "technically" for the 71-72. I did a lot of research making sure these were the correct ones for the setup I am going with (the hotchkis suspension and the willwood 6-piston brake setup). And these are the ones I kept coming up with every time without fail. These are just for a 2" drop, didn't want to drop the truck too much. Part number on them is CP30106-3.

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
Has anyone here installed the No Limit rack and pinion kit? I just found it on an ad at the top of the page. It is less expensive than the one I was looking at, but looks like it requires a lot more fab work. Just wanted to see if anyone had any run-ins with it?

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
Sorry...
More fab work, but rob from. No limit has an account here and seems to not mind helping people with questions or issues. I'd rather buy theirs (which is what I'm doing) rather than the other brands. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
Yeah, I am leaning heavily toward the no limit kit, I just hate the thought of grinding and cutting on my powder coated frame. It was probably inevitable though.

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
Inevitable yes. If you're good, you can touch it up with paint from your powdercoater. I'm a fabricator and all my stuff I do I get matching paint from my coater for touch up.

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
Yes, nothing but the best! I want a real quality ride, did a LOT of research before choosing. Those quality parts just have that big price tag to go with it, but well worth it from what I hear!

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
Those would look great with blue accents. I like that idea better than the Ridler's with a blue rim.
