Nope.

I put a filter and the pump on the frame rail. Did it as a combo-project while I was having the tank cleaned in order to make sure I was getting clean gas to the carb, and the mech pump was working (it wasn't).

When I first bought my 72' Super the sender was closed all the way so I rode around all day with gas fumes gushing into the cab!

High on gas fumes, I did some looking around and realized the problem. Knocked that sender piece around to stoppers to seal it and I haven't had a major gas smell since. I'm keeping it.

May add another tank in the future..

Sorry the in use facts don't support your claim. While any accident has the potential of injury the in-cab tank is not a huge bomb waiting to kill you.

There are far too many trucks built with in cab tanks and saddle tanks that are still being driven safely.

The over-hyped media BS on the square body saddle tanks proves it. They had to use a initiator (model rocket motors IIRC) to start a fire after an accident because it would not happen during testing much less their hoped for explosion. All my Chevy's tanks were fine as are the aftermarket saddle tanks. The tanks in my Dodge and IHC are also just fine thank you very much.

To change out a tank for a non-problem is not being smart and too many I have read posts about don't work well because they have to reinvent the world instead of using a factory style installation per Blazer or Suburban. Not venting a tank properly or having a bad design fill tube for the sake of appearance is poor engineering.

The same goes for the in cab tank as well. People who just ignore the venting or leave off hoses and run a vended cap on a non-vented system are a problem too. Understand the fuel sytem your truck has and correct the issues instead of trying a workaround is the best practice. The vent, hoses, fill neck and sender seal need to be in good servicable condition. If they are not and you are getting fumes don't blame the design.

Still using the OEM tank, as well as twin Travel Tanks that were there when I bought the truck in 1977. Total capacity just north of 50 gallons.

My 71 has the original tank. Seems to work fine. Has never smelled like fuel in the truck, so I don't feel the need to change it.
