Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
I worked on the truck a bit tonight, was only able to get a little bit accomplished. I had to drill and chisel out quite a few rivets and those take a bit to get out… I was able to get the old front crossmember out and install the new tubular crossmember. I was also able to get the trailing arm crossmember mocked up.
Tomorrow I plan on breaking loose the last few rear crossmembers and mocking up the rear notch. Here's a few progress pics.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
So it doesn't look like much from the last update, but it took quite a while to get here. There were a lot of stubborn rivets, but I don't think I need to get rid of any more, so I'm pretty happy about that. Right now the step notches are just mocked up, I have to trim a bit of the frame to get them to seat right. I also took a picture of the SPID.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
I actually just saved up enough for air management. No drop members though.
I am getting the PB kits but not the drop members. They're the front basic kit and the rear stage 2 basic kit but I opted for the step notch and replaced the dominator bags for the SLam 7's. what size lines did you end up going with? I chose 1/2 ports to 3/8th so that I could have a little more control of how hard it goes up and down without using slow downs. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
The reason I chose 1/2 is because if its too much air then I can get the slow downs but if I'm not happy with the air with 3/8th then I will have re plumb it all with 1/2 inch lines.
I subscribed to this build! Looking forward to updates! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Worked on the truck over the long weekend and got a bit more done! My dad helped for a bit and it really makes a difference on how much you get done with 2 people working on it at once. We were able to get the rear notches in place and bolted in and I finally was able to cut out the front notches for the rack and pinion and got that mounted too.
I have to get the rear axle narrowed 1.5" so that the rims will tuck with out rubbing, so the rear can't go to much further right now. After we got the rear notches in place I grabbed my new gas tank to start test fitting that.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Looking good....Nice progress so far! Did you get the trailing arm version or the 4 link DM version?
Also, what's the best strategy to narrow the axles? I'm in the same boat as you but I don't want mess up. Thank you! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Thanks! I'm going with the trailing arm version, waiting to get the rear narrowed before I get them mocked up. I'm having a local chassis shop narrow the axle, I don't have the proper tools and jig to get it done right. Hoping to get it to the shop this week...

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Thanks! I got my tank from CPP, I've only got it sitting on the frame rails, but it looks like it's going to mount up great!

To narrow my axle either. Waiting on my rear disc brakes (should be here Friday) and then figuring out the hard lines, prop valve and master cylinder before i tackle the axles. What's the update on your end? Are they at the shop as we speak? Keep up the good work bud! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Nice progress. I am getting close to the that part of my build. I should be getting my frame back from the sandblaster this week. Then all I have to do is wait, wait and wait for my PB parts to come in. Did everything bolt up pretty nice?

Almost a roller for you! That's pretty good man! I am in the same situation as you with the cheap rims...found out GM stocks 99-13 Won't work. I stumbled upon a RARE set of weld racing lug with caps and lugs BUT stil unsure if they'll clear the calipers. I also found a set of Titan 18" steelies. They ended up being too much for what I'm trying to do with them. Too bad you aren't closer amigo...have my eye on 2 different sets of 15" stock rallys for our trucks that will clear up to a 12" rotor. 1 set is $75 and 1 set is $150. I wish I had my PB stuff like you do. Haha. Posted via Mobile Device |
