Re: Barn find!!

Nice, and thanks for the Info !!

I think I can see where you are going with the step....
I saw Alan on his build spread the edge of a door to fill the door-to-pillar gap by making a relief cut, peeling the outside edge out to where he wanted it, then with a patch piece, he back filled the gap where the relief cut was.
That would probably work really well for this if you too the relief cut all the way to the front corner of the step.....

Thank you again for the reply, I like this idea of kicking the rear fenders out some.

Re: Barn find!!

Just saw this thread. Truck looks like it survived well in the barn. That dash swap looks good in there.

For the step mod, what about splitting it the whole length between the verticle part and the first rib on the step and adding a strip in that area? just another thought that would make it less noticable.

The front edge of the step is even with the cab from the factory, if you widen the whole step it sticks out past the cab and looks funny. I've seen it done that way and didn't really care for it, thats just my opinion.

your right, I was not thinking about them sticking out past the cab at the rocker level...

I think your idea is on track...

Seems like a great deal considering what the parts you're using would cost separate.. BTW-nice job on the widening of the steps--just how I imagined it would work best when you first mentioned it.. Assuming this will be an all-out show truck?? Or will it be slung through some corners on a track?

yea most places want $8-9K for just the engine & trans, I got wiring,ECM, MAFS, A/C hoses, power steering hoses, driveshaft, radiator and condenser, fan etc. The truck is going to be a really nice driver and might see a little track time.

Re: Barn find!!

Curious to see your new wheels when you get them. Great looking truck with no rust. You can't ask for anything more to start a project. Great find.
