Re: Do You Use It Like a Truck ?

I'm planning on using mine as a work truck to take over for my Honda Accord and keep me from having to borrow my dad's truck all the time. I won't drive it in winter though.

Re: Do You Use It Like a Truck ?

Man if you only knew what I've put my trucks through. Wish I would have thought to get pictures. Like 3400 pounds of scrap in my 72 1/2 ton with car tires on it. It didn't like that much. I did get a shot of my Longhorn pulling the 18ft trailer with a 88 Freightliner single screw chassis with a 3406 Cat still in it.

Re: Do You Use It Like a Truck ?

Since the Longhorn has a burned valve I have to use the 72 1/2 ton to haul scrap metal with. This is only 4100 pounds net total.

Hauled a load (no, not 4100 pounds of metal, but still) to our Boy Scout District Camporee this past weekend.

Re: Do You Use It Like a Truck ?

5/8 static drop makes mine a little tough to haul with but i got no problem bottoming out the suspension with a load of furniture or dirt or whatever. the paint is crap so i dont need to worry about scratches.

Re: Do You Use It Like a Truck ?

I can't help but laugh at all these pics. These are some rediculous loads! I'm glad I'm not the only one who make the old truck earn her living.

On post I see all these shiny new raised up diesels with the backs lowered to "look loaded", but they are shiny and now I can see there is nothing in the back either.

Stupid, stupid, stupid...

Some cool pictures here for sure. I use mine more for pleasure than anything, and hauling my pasta rocket back and forth to the race track.

Re: Do You Use It Like a Truck ?

Its a truck, it may not be real practical but it will haul the mail or anything else I can throw behind it. This was pieces parts for the sub floor of a metal building I put in a couple weeks back and the trailer in the background was pulled to the scrapyard later for my neighbor after he tore all the carpeting out for new wood floors. I haven't been able to leave a hardware or big box building supply without at least a few conversations about loading such a nice truck with stuff and its all smiles from the scrapyard guys.

There is a guy I see at my scrapyard that allways wants to know if I'm bringing my truck in to scrap it.

Ya should have seen the looks I got with my Dodge 5500 Hauling home my running 1951 Mack road tractor. Gross wieght aroung 35k lbs. My 72 K20 is semi retired. It hauls me back and forth to work and run errands now that is a rebuilt ex fire truck. The Dodge gets the big loads.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Special_K, I sure like this truck. A friend of mine has a K truck, same blue and white. He used to drive it everywhere, then spent a fortune restoring it, LS motor, 4L80, everything new. Now he never drives it. I've not seen it in 3 or 4 years.

Re: Do You Use It Like a Truck ?

I kinda did. I had to get just a box spring for my daughter's bed. It's nice to just throw it in the back and close the tailgate. I threw some bungies over it just in case. No pics though.

In the past it has had a ton+ of transformers, paper products, wood and so on. The worst was wet dirt piled as high as the cab. 60 lbs of air in the rear tires and they were still bulging at the bottom. Every bump I hit made it want to change lanes.
