Re: K20 Identity Crisis
Quote:
Regarding the Drill Sergeant/Identity Crisis - its a running/driving truck I still have the bed off doing some final touch ups. I plan on making this my daily driver while I take my crew cab out of service to make some changes. I recently put it up for sale with very few solid offers, even after lowering the price to $45,000.00. One of the things I will be doing is finally installing the headliner since I was unsuccessful in my quest to find the original white perforated board headliner. I will also be installing an electric sunroof and I might be changing the seats out for 08' or newer Tahoe black leather buckets with green hounds tooth. I have started and am well under way with my C50 crew cab which will be identical in color and scheme as my current crew cab but with the C50 front end and rear flares like the ones on the Drill Sergeant. No jerry cans on this one. This truck will be BIG and sleek. It is sporting a 21/2 ton frame and a 5.9cummins, one ton running gear with a 9 speed Eaton and with no lift at all - the bottom of the cab will be 36" off the ground. The cab will have some incredible styling including lots of leather, wood, and bells and whistles, all while keeping the character of the 1970 truck. For all current information on our builds just like us on facebook from our website.

Awesome as always! The C50 build is going to be awesome. I understand about it being easier to post stuff to Facebook. Unfortunately my work blocks Facebook at work but not this forum.

Re: K20 Identity Crisis
Another update on the things going on at Rtech Fabrications. On the Drill Sergeant the bed is finally in the body shop, I will show one picture of that below. The blazer project has really come along quite nicely; the tub is in the body shop also. We have a temporary redheaded step child here, ie) a 65' mustang for rust repairs and body work clean-up.
Now on the 70' C50 Crew Cab with a 5.9 cummins - one ton 4wd -project - after putting a mock up cab on to find out where I needed to cut and how I wanted to lay out the fire wall, I have removed the cab and have installed the crew cab. I am doing the turbo charger a little differently than most guys do, I have flipped the exhaust manifold upside down which put the turbo charger up higher. Since there will not be any heating or air conditioning on the firewall or under the dash I have plenty of room to do things my way. Instead of the inner cooler being in the front of the vehicle, it will be on the passenger side above the highly modified inner fender well. It will draw its air from the cowl where the fresh air vents normally draw from. It will be electric fan operated off of a temperature sensor switch. I invite any and all input, good or bad, on this idea. Now to answer the undoubtable questions; the heating and air conditioning will all be located underneath the back of the cab in a box accessible from inside the cab.

Re: K20 Identity Crisis
Well I went on a field trip today. I had to get the leather straps made to hold the jerry cans in on the drill sergeant. So I found an old cowboy leather Smith and told him what I needed the straps to do. Well he told me to step on behind the counter and come on back and while I waited he started making exactly what I asked for, in fact he even had me help him. I am very pleased with the way this turned out and I really had a great time today at the leather Smith. Sure would like to hear what you think about this.

I like! Sounds like a cool guy. I would think most would want customers to sit and wait. Neat story.

Do you make and sell those bedsides? I'm going to build a dually, and would like for my bed to turn out like that.

The finish line is finally in sight. I'm thinking on the inside of a month or so it will be ready to show.
