Hi Whiskeymaker! I like what I'm seeing of your build. Regarding the background on your truck, in California you can go to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and submit a form asking for the registration history of a vehicle as long as you write down your reason for asking. I've done this myself in the past when looking for the '55 Chevy two door hardtop my Dad bought new and gave to me when I turned 16. Of course being the idiot I was as a teenager, I didn't want it and he took it back and more or less GAVE it away for $450! It just kills me to think of it to this day. Anyway, in my case, the DMV could not locate a registration history under the only license number I knew for it so I never found anything out. If the current owner doesn't want to allow you to contact them they just have to ignore the letter from the DMV. At least this is the way it used to go. After reading all that, if you want me to do anything for you here, drop me a PM with the information you have and I'll give it a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Your truck is looking good! Can't wait to see what color it will be.
http://www.oldcarmanualproject.com Go here, you will find a manual for your truck. A great resource for all old car and truck lovers.

Re: A Scottish 55 Big back window
Great progress! I love seeing body panels in black epoxy. It's funny though, the chassis looks so tall, we mostly see ones with a front clip welded on and a giant c notch out back. This is kind of refreshing to see

Many thanks for that ^^^ Dan... i shall have a chat with the wife and see if she wants to go into researching the truck......i shall drop you a PM if we decide to look into it. only epoxy for now Kim....colour will be in the next few weeks.... Quote:
Thanks for kind comments and that link,i shall certainly be having a look through it. Quote:
she will be getting a fair bit of work done to her regarding straightness of panels and small amounts of filler(bondo) I looked into all the mods for lowering the truck and clipping her and so on...but we decided against doing it all....my wife dont really like lowered vehicles ( most of my vee dubs were lowered) so the truck will be staying at the height she is at now. |

Re: A Scottish 55 Big back window
So,Bruce tells me he has been having.........."fun"....doing the wings !!!!!!
Before i put the pics up, it just reiterates to me how pics do NOT show how much work is involved in real life......even after all the projects ive done over the years, i was still stunned at how much work the wings have been for Bruce...... The wings still need to be sprayed in a spray filler, then blocked and then into high build primer........ anyways piccys Holes? what holes? these next two will give you an idea of the work involved...this is the left wing, the one that had the holes in it.... |
