Re: 69 4x4 burb daily driver
Rolled the 14 bolt under it yesterday afternoon and went to bolt it in. Realized spring perches are 1.5" wider on the 14 bolt than the suburban is, so tonight I've got to pull it back out and take it over to the shop where I can cut them off and move them. I should have measured before I tried putting it under there, I assumed it would bolt right up.. Wrong..
Does anyone run a flex fan anymore or a clutch fan? The burb tries getting hot if your not moving very fast, it currently has a clutch fan on it that was on the 350 and I never had problems out of it. On a positive note, while I was under the dash wiring up my tach a while back I noticed the speedo cable was unhooked. I hooked it up and now the speedo / odometer work!

Re: 69 4x4 burb daily driver
Finally afe some noticeable progress the last couple days. Got my spring perches moved to fit my leaf springs, then installed the 14 bolt. Got it setting on the 35s and backed it out of the garage to clean the garage up some. Set the good on by myself(which is a pain btw)
Here's a progress shot outside

Re: 69 4x4 burb daily driver
Finally had time to make some really good progress yesterday. Got the rear discs on and plumbed, installed front springs, front shocks, the 8 lug 44 is now under it. Rear is pretty much complete, need to get an inch taller block to make the ride height level. Installed new seals in the rear, cleaned the diff up and filled with new fluid. The factory driveshafts bolted in, rear I had to use a 1310/1350 conversion u-joint which will work for now until I decide what I'm going to do on trans/ transfer case. I forgot to pick up my front axle joints so we didn't start on brakes or anything on the front end yet.

Re: 69 4x4 burb daily driver
Shows how much taller the front is. I was actually hoping for this since I didn't really like how low the rear fenders sat on the tires. Easy fix though

Re: 69 4x4 burb daily driver
Ordered an aftermarket ps bracket off ebay, fit perfectly. Got all my brakes finished up minus the power booster/ master cyl. Installed all new ball joints, tie rod ends, spicer axle joints, packed all the bearings and all new brakes. Took it to the muffler shop Friday and got my 2.5" exhaust with x pipe installed and ran to the flow master 40 series. I've drove it about 50 miles this weekend, man I missed this thing. Hopefully picking up a front bumper this week and mounting my lights in it.

Re: 69 4x4 burb daily driver
Picked up a front bumper a couple weeks ago, brackets just got here today. Built a receiver hitch last night and ran out of welding wire. Hope to finish and install that tomorrow along with my trailer brake controller and plug in.

Hauled a project home tonight with the burb, swapping a ls engine/ trans into it for a customer. Got my front bumper on too since the last pics.

Re: 69 4x4 burb daily driver
Took the boat to the lake this weekend, was really impressed how the burb handled it. About 110 mile round trip. I'm going to need a heavier clutch before I do that many more times. That and fix my front driveshaft since it's extremely loose in the slip yoke.

Great towing pix! I'd say you nailed it on your wheel/tire/lift choice. Looks great.

Re: 69 4x4 burb daily driver
Thanks, I love it. Drives great and isn't to tall. Tire height and gear combo seems perfect for towing. 55mph is 2500 rpm.

looks good. Did you say what wheel size and type that is? Looks great. I am going Dually Sub with my 4x4. Keep up the great work. I am getting inspired.

Re: 69 4x4 burb daily driver
It's a 20x10 wheel with 35-12.5 Hercules mud terrain. The tires are something new so we ordered a set to try em out. So far I've been really impressed considering how aggressive they are. Good street manners and not to loud.

Re: 69 4x4 burb daily driver
Well it's been a while since an update.. In the last couple months I've put about 3500 miles on it and a couple mechanical fuel pumps. I finally gave up and put a holley red fuel pump on it..
Sadly to report I'm going to sell it. We got the wife a new car and I bought a cheap diesel to drive. To many vehicles to keep em all. I'm a lot more a attached to my 71 pickup than the burb. I love driving the suburban though, I probably enjoy it more than I have any of my nice trucks. Everyone stops to talk to me when I'm somewhere.
