Re: How much would you spend
I have just this one from the other night
Also that fuel pump was a pita for me, I'm a ford guy so you just drop the fuel pump in and it aligns itself not chevy I found there's a rod you have to hold up and put the pump in the same time, it took me 45 mins before I had to have my buddy help.also has for the fuel filter is the one in the carb good or should I add one in the line too |

Re: How much would you spend
That is a question we regularly ask ourselves. For me - if I buy an original truck like yours (which is awesome BTW!) it stays original. If I buy someone else's project and it already has been altered, then its ripe for all kinds of mods. The classic question isn't Ginger vs Mary Anne, its restore vs. modify. And for the record, its Mary Anne

Re: How much would you spend
Wow that's a steal. I'd be afraid to try to get the price lower, wouldn't want to insult him. I'd try to pay him and get the title ASAP. I believe it's worth maybe triple, quadruple to the right buyer, some people are longhorn crazy. Rare truck.

Re: How much would you spend
So is that rear coil springs with the leaf helper springs mounted off the side of the frame behind the rear wheels?

Re: How much would you spend
Get a syringe or turkey baster and suck that fluid out of the master cyl. Get some dot 4 and fill it back up, crack all the bleeders at the wheels and see if you can get it to run out all 4 wheels, don't let the reservoir run too low.
Then, bleed it out starting with the lines on the master cyl then all 4 wheels and see if you get the pedal back or not. Be careful even if you do, a master cyl can be spooky working seemingly perfect then it can by-pass without warning. |

Re: How much would you spend
Well looking at the option list the auxiliary leaf springs brings to mind some I've seen on trailing arm/coil spring trucks that mount on the outer side of the frame behind the rear wheels, and they are "half leaf".

Re: How much would you spend
Biggest, most common mistake made with the Q-jet is to over-tighten the bolts that hold it to them manifold; this warps the top cover and leaks can ensue.
You can actually straighten the top cover with a soft mallet, wooden blocks, a nice touch and some courage. Maybe you could take it to somebody that has done it before. |

Re: How much would you spend
damn a waterford speedbowl bumper sticker...went there once in the 80's...does that track still exist?...and my tow vehicle at the time was an orange 72 longhorn c20 ...your truck is amazingly solid for a ct. work vehicle....hope they spilled enough tar in the bed to preserve it...

Re: How much would you spend
Nice truck! Tailgate looks great and so do the rockers. Check the drains under the rockers and make sure they're open, check the cab corners for crap, clean the drains there too. There are also drains in the doors that plug up. I took a hose to all those areas in my trucks, you will be surprised how much crap will be in those areas. All that dirt and road goo will hold moisture against the steel.
Great buy! Nice truck!

Re: How much would you spend
So today I bleed the brakes in the back got one to spit fluid the right Sid it just driped out I could not get any to squirt out but the pedal did start to come back i also notice the back hose was a little dry rotted I also replaced the carb bad gasket and she idle like a champ but I couldn't rev it it would die and I notice it was leaking fuel by the filter so I tighten it up and then it wouldn't idle
So my parts list so far is Battery Rear brake hose Carb rebuild ( I'm going to attempt ) Also had a scare today when I started it it was knocking so I thought the motor was bad lol but it was just the fan shoud hitting the fan lol |

Re: How much would you spend
Even tho its a longhorn I be finding a 1/2 ton 1973--87 suspension and put it under that truck. Most of us will never use them trucks as trucks any longer.Making it a usable truck in getting good Gas mileage would make that truck such a wonderful truck to build

Re: How much would you spend
Sweet deal ! I use my trucks as trucks so a C30 would fit me well lol. I'd be feeling I stole it for that price here in upstate NY. Everything here is rotted beyond reasonable repair. I paid around $5300 for my '72 GMC 1500 and felt ok with it, even '02 Silverados here are crusher food so I jumped on my GMC without second thought. You done real good
