Thanks. That is useful. I'll install 2" springs in the front and report back.

My old 73 had a flip, drop shackles and drop shocks in the rear...front had dropped spindles, drop springs and drop shocks. The truck rode like a dream. It's all about putting quality engineered and working parts on your truck. I bet the shocks alone would have made the truck ride better. Curious to see how the front work makes the truck feel when done.

I had never lowered a truck before, and I got some good advice on this forum. It's how I ended up here -looking for lowering advice. I will be very interested in the two inch springs you use. If you get a chance could you measure between the center of the rim and the bottom of the wheel opening after you install?

No doubt the shock position had something to do with the ride.
The front has drop shocks, going into this I assumed the rear did as well, but now this will be rectified.

No matter though, the main issue was clearance. After just raising the rear the exhaust no longer drags on the speed bumps (among other benefits).

If I wanted to keep it that low, I'd plan on carefully selecting different headers as well as rolling the fender lips as well as replacing the front inner fenders with specialty items, which then would lead to moving the air conditioning unit and the battery etc. etc. For this truck that is a lot of work for very minimal visual gain for our purposes. Before doing that, I would start with a new project and do it all before paint.

In addition, if I was going to go to all of that work I'd go much more extreme.

Here are the current pics with the rear flip but no additional drop. Also the front (the pic with no hubcap) still has the butchered coils to go along with the drop spindles.

I'll post new ones once the front is dealt with.
(Note: the camera angle focused on the fender lip. Because of the angle it doesn't show that the tape was centred on the hub, but you'll have to trust me that it was).

As mentioned before, I wouldn't have been able to build the truck for anything near what trucks like this sell for. My wife made a good buy.
