Nice work!

I got one of those shirts too. I found one of their flyers in the back of my truck when I was at Good Guys in Columbus last month. It had a picture of that shirt on it so when I got home I ordered one

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.

Went to southern South Carolina today and picked up a realy nice shortbed rolling chassis for "bob" the 64 green truck today. Also a not so nice cab but had the good sheetmetal sections I needed to fix the cab. That pretty much took all day. Left at 6:00 am and got back at 4:00 pm and didn't take but an hour to get the truck and load it.but it's all worth it, mett some really nice folks.

Talked with porterbuilt Friday and they gave me a ship date of next week. That's good news. In the meantime I'll get the other truck together for the daily driver.

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.

Today I recieved a nice surprise... The acuair e-level setup came in today with 2 vair chrome compressors and a polished aluminum 5 gal air tank... Man this setup is so nice the way it's all layer out and prewired. Beats the old way of hooking up 8 individual valves and wiring them all to some switches and then hooking up the tank and compressors and pressure switch all to something that isn't exactly how u want it to look. Still have to get some quarter airline and fittings but wasn't sure if I wanted to stainless hard line or run black nylon.... Thinking hard line. I've done it before on my last feature truck and it's so clean and bullet proof.
Also had some paint delivered for the frame for the daily. Looking like a long weekend so I can start getting the daily pieced back together so I can open up the shop for the main project...
Also the best word of the day was an email from Dave porter with all the tracking number for 9 boxes for the porterbuilt suspension... Man I bet that ups truck can drive itself as many times he's been here in the last few months. I'm getting excited and hyped for this to get here. I know it's going to be worth the wait.

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.

Long weekend so far. Got the new old frame in the shop for the daily on Saturday and put all new brakes, wheel cylinders, rear housing gaskets, new lowered coils front and rear, new brake hoses, fixed rear parking brakes, repacked the bearings.
Got up this morning and cut the cab apart, roof is off in one piece, took both lower tulip vents, cut dash out, firewall section Needed, and back cab wall and gas tank mounts. Took cab off frame, finished titling the old manual trans mount rivets out, loaded it on the trailer and took it to work.pressure washed it again... Not the greatest but looks better.
Came back this afternoon and took wheels off and shot it with some chassis saver antique black. Not the greatest look but better than dirt and rust.ill go back in the morning and put the wheels on it.

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.

Also picked up 6 quarts of light blue water born paint for the daily. The original color of the truck was light blue so this is real close, and at 6 almost 7 quarts spray able light blue it's hard to pass it up for free.

Run to the sun by pee dee street rodders.. It's in myrtle beach,sc usually the 3rd week or last week in march. Don't know at this time if it will make it. There is a lot to do and I'm not going to be happy if it's not the way I want it... But hey I'll give it a shot.

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.

Haven't posted In a bit but a lot has been going on... First off.

I recieved all the porterbuilt suspension parts front and rear this past week... Hurt my back trying to lug a couple of those boxes into the shop by myself... second off worked pretty hard trying to get the frame back together for the daily.put the engine and trans in, shortbed a firebird driveshaft and installed it,run fuel lines, installed an old intake on the engine, new fuel pump, and some trans lines that I'm going to modify when I get the radiator in. Ordered a short water pump pulley setup and going tomorrow to get a new short water pump.got the exhuast remodified and the trans mount and parking brake mount all installed and bolted in. Rearend fluid in and new shocks on.nitro drop shocks on the rear and some off brand black ones on the front.
Tonight I started cutting the really really bad repair that someone put in the firewall. I have a reusable piece from another doner cab. Clean it up tomorrow at work and then weld it in wendsday night . Have to finish cutting the rest of the old hole for the high hump..... Gonna be nice. Both trucks with high hump.

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.

Got the new firewall section in the driver today, some holes welded up and filled and primed. Also installed high hump firewall section. Got the really bad back cab wall cut out and the doner section with gas tank mounts mounted and screwed in place ready for welding. Maybe tomorrow.

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.

I've been working on other things and sons soccer games, went to charlotte auto fair on sat and picked up some things for the truck. Front and rear bumpers,a billet trans dipstick, billet trans pan, tailgate and a front bed panel.

Got the back panel in first coat of filler and sanded and painted and cleared the firewall on the daily. Hopeing to get the cab set back on the frame this weeks and bolted back down. Just wanting to get the daily back together so I can start back on the 66...I'm so ready.

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.

Worked on cleaning up the shop today, cut the complete bed floor out of the driver.... Decking boards screwed to steel diamond plate floor... Welded completely around the perimeter..over the factory bed floor and rails... Removed the front bed panel and wheel tubs and set it back on the frame for a raised bed floor and raised wheel tubs for cuter bagg job on the daily.

Also got the frame out and u boxed all the parts for the porterbuilt suspension. Started assembly of the dropmember front and the step notch and crossmembers for the rear. Only one problem.... I'm kinda winging all this. I have no pics and instructions for anything porterbuilt... None😞. Hopefully Nate fill send me something on where all these boots and nuts and brackets go.
