Re: Oh No It Was An Accident! REALLY!
Thanks, but now Im not sure what I wanna put this in, My 55 Chevy 210 4dr wagon or my 50 Truck. I already have a mild built small block 350 and a 700R 4 trans sitting on a stand that was going to go into the 55 but now im thinking hmmmmmmm. My wife wants the modern engine in the 55 Wagon but wants the SBC 350 in the truck. and to make matters worse she still wants manual floor shifter in the truck......What to do What to do.

Happy wife happy life!
Go for the wagon, we have one next in line for a LS/4l60e to replace the 235, you will be driving it in a week, if that new engine has not been sitting for a long time

I love that wagon color. If I ever get back to my '67 Chevelle I'd like to use a similar color.

Re: Oh No It Was An Accident! REALLY!
Well, it's "California slang" for really cool. So, I am sure you know. Didn't know it was banned here.
In elementary school, we subbed "twitchen" for the real word that started with a "b".

Re: Oh No It Was An Accident! REALLY!
Okay so new development, if I was going to use my SBC 350 in the 50 truck but I wanted to retain the manual floor shift, could I use a GM SM420 behind it? Will i still be able to drive the truck on the Fwy?

Re: Oh No It Was An Accident! REALLY!
If you use a HIGH gear rear end, 3:00
Why not look for a 3 or 4 speed (passenger car) as high gear is 1 to 1 ratio

Re: Oh No It Was An Accident! REALLY!
The SM 420 is 1:1 top gear as are most three and four speeds. Seeing your projects I think you would really like the drive to get that 50. Might find another project along the way!

Re: Oh No It Was An Accident! REALLY!
I have a fresh 700R4 , but now I need to sell it and pick up a 4 or 5 speed.

Re: Oh No It Was An Accident! REALLY!
I'll drive my 57 on the highway all day long with factory 4 spd and 3.90 rear gears. Tall tires keep the revs reasonable.
Look at the cam specs for your engine and determine cruise rpm and peak torque rpm. Truck should be built to utilize that torque for cruising. |

Re: Oh No It Was An Accident! REALLY!
That Ford trans won't bolt to the GM block. But the wagon looks like a nice find.
Most guys here favor the T5 although the NVG3500 isn't a bad choice, either imo. Or you might spring for a T56... http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/pts/4492848649.html |

Can I use the manual transmission out of a 96 S-10?

For that price you stole it! Got any plans for it now? You should plan a mini vacation when you go pick it up!
