Definitely a ding Keith. But I read it as leaving the factory with it. It is not a build sequence stamp. Truck seems honest.

1968 GMC 3/4 ton markings on back of cab after bed removal. Any ideas what the 525 represents?

Driver door 1970 Fremont suburban. Not chalk, but more like etched into paint.

My guess would be:

525 = build sequence number. You might find this in other areas, too (on the front end sheetmetal, radiator support, rear axle, front suspension crossmember, inside one of the wheels, front of the pickup box, etc).

that looks like the same style of marks on my firewall,appears to be someone's initials scratched into the paint while it was still wet.i have 2 marks,both different on each side of my Fremont,Ca built Cheyenne Super.
