Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
Well, I commend your engineering and starting the back half from scratch.
I have none of the skills you guys have as builders, but absolutely love what you do. Pentagram has multiple associations, but never thought of it as a way to display your V initial. The paint pot and exhaust tip does it for me too.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
nice build so far!
I checked my 60 and I show 3 1/4 inches of clearance from the top of the core support to the hood, looks like if you trim the hood brace you could get 4 inches of clearance for the radiator..... Box will still be the stepper? I like the headlight air scoop idea, if you haven't already thought of it one of these shaped mesh headlight screens would look good- kind of make it look like the bulb was still there.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
Step sides have always been my favorite. I even got got lucky enough to get a truck that didn't have the spare tire cutout in the fender. I've got a pic back when I was mocking the truck up with the bed sitting on it that I'll post up for ya. This things going to tuck like a bread truck lol.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
The rear axle was actually loose still in that pic and was about 3 inches too far to the driver side. I took some measurements after everything was centered and should be able to run some of those newer 15" wide deep torque thrust wheels that have the satin hoops and flat black faces similar to the rims on it now. Should still tuck about 2 inches inside the fender with them if do it.

Dude that truck is looking sick. I would love to check it out whenever I go through Tyler. Atleast once or twice a month.

Pretty cool build and great fab work. Love the idea for the paint pot air cleaner.
I grew up in Tyler and now over in Longview. Still have a bunch of buddies over there.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
You think about making the truck a BBW instead of the small window?

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
Thanks everyone. It really means a lot to hear it from the members on this forum. I've been lurking around for years on this site, searching for ideas solutions to whatever I've been working on at the time. Anytime I googled info on the 69 stepside or the 74 K5 or my bagged 84 mustang killer, I always ended up on this site looking for answers. I made a little progress this week end. I got the bed drug back in out of the driveway where it's sat for about six months and started cutting the supports and fenderwells to get it dropped down where it needs to sit. Started taking measurements for the bed mounts and rear bumper. By the way, anyone seen this rear bumper before? Is it a dealer bumper or does it look like something fabbed up for when it was a farm truck? Trying to decide where it needs to sit before I build brackets for it.

A side shot of it. I love the way the six link can be seen through the wheels.

And a shot of the back half with the bed on.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
I've thought about it a few times and haven't decided if I want to cut it out and stick the big window in or not. I've never seen a big window first gen before in person so I'm kind of on the fence about it.

A brighter shot or the six link through the wheels. The other was kind of hard to see.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
I think the small back window goes more with the lo-tech patina look than the big one, however here are a couple early trucks (step/BBW) to look at...
the first one belongs to member rednose65, and I think he lives in the DFW area...

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
Yeah I agree. The small window better looks the part of this build. Slightly better bullet protection fleeing a girls parents driveway if you will.

Truck looks great with the bed on. Bumper fits the build. Not my style but definitely works.

I have a BBW cab. I've been trying to give away for free during years and I cant. Haha
