Re: 1969 C50 crew cab build
Got the front firewall of the crew cab portion taken off this weekend. Looks as clean as I had hoped. Started disassembly of the front cab to get the back panel, headliner, etc out. The front driver bottom door pillar is pretty rusty in places. You can buy front pillar replacements for C10's but they are not the same as the C50. I will have to get into it deeper. I was reading a thread earlier and have bought a "67-72 chevy assembly line instruction manual" to help me understand where all the spot welds are. Yikes.

Re: 1969 C50 crew cab build
Some more info....a C50 cab sits off the frame about 2.5" higher than C10-C30 trucks. I will need to locate another set of C50 front cab mounts to get the 2nd cab on the same plane as the front cab. For the back mounts I will have to use the 2 most inboard set of cab mount holes that are already in the cab, and make another cross member and set of bushings like what I made for the front cab.
Anyone have a set of C50 front cab mounts handy?? |

Re: 1969 C50 crew cab build
Sorry about the sideways picture. Not sure why it did that nor do I know how to fix it! Here is a cross section of the door frame/top sheet metal/drip edge, etc in case anyone wondered what all is in there. Also showing the joints where the head liner and the seam along the back top of cab in case anyone wants to have a reference.

Re: 1969 C50 crew cab build
Here is this weekends progress. Got the 2nd cab positioned on the frame. The cab length is 95" from front door to back of cab. I want 4 full size doors so this will allow plenty of leg room. Now I will have to figure out how to marry the 2 cabs.

Re: 1969 C50 crew cab build
Very Nice Progress
Are you going for this approach in the picture below? If so will you have the other 10.5 inches as a filler panel? Or will you lengthen the rear door?

Re: 1969 C50 crew cab build
Have you thought about using a Suburban and then welding on the back of the truck cab behind the rear doors?

Re: 1969 C50 crew cab build
Yes...kind of. The front door will be stock. I will take the back of the rear door channel for the passenger side and weld it to the front driver side to make it uniform front and rear. Not sure how to explain it until I cut and show a pic.

A C-50 will look real good with (2) Full-size rear doors. Edit: 4 full size doors

Awesome! Can't wait to see how the rounded rear doors look and how much room you have inside!

Re: 1969 C50 crew cab build
Hey gup1972,
When your able, could you take a couple pictures of how your ch465 is mounted to the engine? Trying to confirm if there is adapter in between the engine and trans. Thanks! |

Just curious...can Dana 60 and 14 bolt swap in and bolt to the spring perches on the c50 chassis?
