I see you got some snow, we were up in Altmar last week snow mobiling
We are supposed to get between a foot or two today into tomorrow. No more snowmobiling for me - it's just too cold (but it is a lot of fun)!
I ordered them through Summit. Hopefully they will be ok.

A little off topic, but how is that floor working out for you?
It has worked out pretty well. Much easier on the feet and legs than standing on concrete. I've pulled and installed several motors and the cherry picker has not ruined any tiles. I have ruined a couple though and they can be changed out in a minute. Mine have the open type weave and fluids will go underneath to my drain. Little tiny parts, if you drop them, are probably lost for a decade, especially if they are stainless and non magnetic. They can be cleaned up with just about anything. I use a mop and strong mixture of spic and span or Awesome. You can even use paint thinner or brake cleaner on it and it won't be hurt. If I ever move, I can take it up and take it with me if I wanted to do so. I don't leave a jack stand sitting with a vehicle's weight on them without some plywood underneath as the legs on my stands are too sharp and they will cut into the tiles after awhile (that's how I ruined a couple tiles).

It is the only time in my life that I have driven 85 MPH on ice and snow, with the clothing they now provide it is rather comfortable

Re: Blazer got some color today

Well, one of the four drums arrived from Summit. It doesn't have the knockout on it for brake adjustment. The other 3 are due tomorrow. Their customer service indicates that they will take care of me. I will see. In any event, finished up the rear brakes, installed new shocks, and a new steering damper cylinder.

Re: Blazer got some color today

I ended up drilling and filing adjustment slots in the drums. Brakes finished. Drained transmission, transfer case, and both differentials and filled with new lube.

Re: Blazer got some color today

Ran into the same problem with my drums, didn't think of drilling, just kept beating on the slots, they finally gave way, with a BFH

Truck looks awesome with the detail of assembly

Looks like you figured out the problem with the union on your rear brake lines

Re: Blazer got some color today

Thanks Jim. I couldn't even find drums that had the knockout stamping outline in them anymore. Had a "technical expert" at Summit tell me just adjust them from the back. At that point I decided to ship them back on their dime and order a different brand (Summit's were Bendix) through Advance. They too didn't have the knock out stamping in them so I just gave up and made my own adjustment slots. I had previously checked with my local NAPA and they had some drums, which may or may not have the stamping, but were located at the manufacturer in Kansas City ( I think). So if I wanted to pay the shipping and twice the price of Summit's or Advance's drums, I could order them - not. As to the union, I changed copper washers and ground down their diameter slightly so they would fit into the very very slight recess on either side. Time will tell but so far, so good. If I could have found the thicker washers like were used when it was built, I wouldn't have run into this problem. Aftermarket copper washers are less than 1/2 the thickness of the originals.

Put most of the dash together, got the tires mounted and balanced. Mickey Thompson Degan 38 tires, sized 32" X 11.50" X15 on series 62 wheel vintiques 8" X 15". Haven't decided if I am going to run them bare or with hubcaps.

Re: Blazer got some color today

That front brake line looks a little tight, do they have anything longer or is your suspension flexed all the way out? Just seems a little short. Um...awesome job by the way!!

Re: Blazer got some color today

Ski-me,
That's hanging from my lift. Those are standard length and I believe it has a 2" spring lift from a previous owner. May have to change them out again. Once I fire it up, I'll move it to a place where I can flex the suspension each side and see where I am at.

I bought a softopper for this one as I had one previously on my 71 Blazer and really liked it. I could roll up the side and rear windows and had the open air feeling while keeping the sun from baking me and the seats. The original top is hanging from the joists in my barn and I have no intention of restoring it but will keep it.

I'm doing the same. The top is unrestored and sitting behind the shed. I used to have an old 4 runner that you could take the top off... You would never take the top off because it was a bit of a pain.

So, I decided to never put my hardtop on!
