Man, with no vent to work around that would leave mega room for speakers. Seems to me it would.

Nice Pods. Looks to be a good angle with adequate spacing behind the mids to bring out a fair sound (in comparison to a cut door).

For better stereo imaging, the tweeter need to be placed above the mids, perhaps on the bulge above the mids between the air vent and the A-pillar/door.

Can you post a pic with grill and wider angle to get an idea how they look in the truck?

Actually putting the tweeter below the midrange helps bring the image up. It has to do with the time alignment of the voice coils.
Keeping the tweeter as close to and in alignment with the midrange will also provide a more solid sound stage. Separating them can cause phasing and cancelation problems.
While it can be argued that this stuff does not make a difference in a vehicle I believe you can hear a difference.
$100-$200 for limited production custom pods is a good price. They are a bit of work, not only for the originals but glassing the copys. I would be asking more in the range of $350-$450 a pair. Good luck with the project.

Re: Kick Panels for speakers

what ever came of this. I realize this is 2 years later but it looks like this could have been a good business for him or anyone who wanted to make and sell these. I know i'd pay 200.00 for a good pair.

Re: Kick Panels for speakers

I know a guy who might be interested in doing this, i'll speak with him about it, have him make me a pair and then post it for you all to see. If it turns out well, and he wants to make more, and it can be done and a profit made at 200.00 then we'll pay and post in the classified section as a product available for all.

One question: Tweeter up or tweeter below?

Re: Kick Panels for speakers

When I start work on interior I am planning on fabbing up my own that would be designed to work around the dimmer and the e-brake, if there was enough interest in them I may start producing them in mass, but I don't plan to start on mine until sometime this spring atleast, I will make my own post once I do though, or will show them off in my build thread

Hey Shifty, the first seat looks like the bench from these guys:

They are nice, but for $1800? Not in my truck.

That one looks like it comes out a lot farther than mine does. Also, notice the one pictured is tilted forward a little.

A guy had one of these in a LWB I saw last summer and he let me sit in it. I was definately not impressed, in fact it was actually uncomfortable and almost laughed in his face when he told me how much it cost!
I do like how they look, but looks aren't everything!

Re: Kick Panels for speakers

Im talking to a friend of mine who owns a woodshop about possibly starting to make these. I'd have to make a mold first but if i do go through with it I would have some by the end of jan. Anybody have any ideas or tips as to what they would like to see in them?

Just make sure the woofer angles up and out, the tweeter is above and to the right the woofer and is available in black material.
