So after the stick of doom visited the nest twice yesterday, there were a few stragglers left today.

I would say they had won.

This morning after my shower, it was obvious I need to be careful as my body does not like this poison.



Chatting to Mickey over the fence, he said he had a solution, and less than 5 minutes later, he was there.

Can of Asda (Walmart) wasp killer in hand.

I was still trying to warn him when he was straight in.......




After a few minutes, and a pair of gloves.

And ripping the log out and tossing it on the lawn.



Incredible how neatly they have hollowed out that log.



And contents of the poison, I went back to ASDA to see if there was any in stock, nope.

Maybe banned?

As the wasps just fall out of the air when you spray.



Tomorrow I will inspect again, and if no more wasps, I will clear up there cut back the shrubs a bit.

Turns out, neither Sally, nor Greg the current lodger (Leaving on Friday) have ever held or shot anything except for shooting off their mouths.

So a few beers, targets and two air rifles later, we had a full evening of fun.



Started with the targets, set up at 24 meters, or 75 foot distance




Sally got to shoot first, every shot, accompanied by a loud scream, and the fourth one followed by “I don’t want to do this anymore”



Interesting, that at this distance, with a .177 calibration, she put this grouping together.

Meant less competition for the rest of the evening, while she carried the beers and checked and marked off the groupings as we went through them.

Later, after the plying, we were sitting chatting outside till the mosquitos chased us indoors.



I had just gone to fetch another beer when I heard screams, male and female.

Came back to this.....

Man, sorry about all the wasp trouble. I have them here and they have learned that the passenger doors on my SquareBodies don't get opened very often. So I systematically went and cleared the nests out of three trucks. Since that time I periodically come across them in other places. I always keep a couple of bottles that will shoot 20 ft. I think that's about 275 meters, but I'm not sure. Got a kick out of Sally screaming as she popped off rounds from an air rifle. Sometime when you bring her to the states she can get behind something that is powder actuated and hand-held, and you can see how that goes, haha. As you probably know, typically you get more allergic to those stings until you're in respiratory danger. So please take care with regard to that. Your place is really coming together and I like seeing you guys enjoy it. Your big barbecues look delicious.

Over the weekend, Sally asked me to help her do a sign for a work friend and colleague who had a double mastectomy.

So I agreed.

Ended up doing three, for two of her friends and her colleague

Starting wit a rough sign, then a background painted on.

The next big job was to wrap up the carport and driveway posts that had to be redone.

Greg, the lodger, who left today helped after Andy moved out, he also taught me a whole lot about welding.

He finished off the plates for me too.

Spoke to the steel guy today, he should be here to do the steel work in two weeks.

Signs went down well.

It seems her bestie and her husband just can’t decide where to put it.





I fetched the Custom Chevy C10 cab lifter made about 6 years ago from mate Martins place, along with another tool.

This has lived outdoors in all weathers, all the yea5s, so will need me to make some rot repairs as one end already fell off when I unloaded it.

Makes lifting a four man lift Sized cab off the chassis on your own using the engine hoist a piece of cake.



The cab roller frame, built by Martin is a brilliant tool, despite an old wooden pallet with wheels doing the same job.

The cab floor is stepped, and that’s reflected in the design, then add in four mounting points to secure it, and you can roll the cab about while working on it.

I will tidy it up and add some wheels before packing it away with the lifter for future use.




Been thinking of what route to go with my garage and carport “Forecourt” once the roof is on.


Years ago when I made this fake pump, these colours appealed, they still do.


The question is, do I develop the fake theme or use an existing brand.

Been pressure cleaning the deck, furniture and repairing and painting all the stuff.

While waiting for paint to dry today I also applied the stickers I had made this week by a mate on the body of the dummy pump.

When you buy one of these.....



To fix one of these.



It is often,because you are skilled enough to produce one of these for your NASCAR truck build, in order to save weight.

And change some subtle bits.

Even if you kinda fail first time, and start again, it shows what you can and will do.

Back home, he and Tally offered it up to the trucks front end.

Looks right to me.

Next job: Build a glass fibre hood/bonnet to reduce weight.

Seems a slippery slope when you have over 800bhp under the hood, to start a weight loss Program




Clem at rubatrucks.com in Fayetteville, Arkansas also sent Dennis a steel Quuic Fill filler neck this week for the truck.




Bit by bit this crazy build is coming together too.

Soon it will be Black Lines all over Missouri.

And I certainly have collected, and shared out some free stuff.

Perfectly timed by mate Scott @Jabbo was an offer of a used (not a SnapOn) wheeled toolbox for my garage.

I have a SnapOn item that came here for £75.00 a year or two ago from a mate.

But this will be great for the extra stuff laying about, especially with the current carport build.




Including 30 mile delivery, it has the feel of a bargain.

I mentioned previously that my karma bucket was overflowing.

Where Sally lives, a bunch of paving guys with a Transit pickup and some vans have been doing a load of paving for older residents.

Her neighbour two houses down asked if she wanted to buy a mower (petrol, she likes electric) so she declined.

But asked me when I popped around.

I went to look, and it came home with me, along with two tools, a Jerry can and some fuel, all for £100.00




Happy with that as I have been looking for some time but prices put me off.



Tried it out yesterday.



After that, I went to the shop and cleaned, primed and painted the cab roller frame for the C10

Just need to fit some wheels to it today, then we have a complete tool.

I also need to work on the cab lifter tool, as it has rotten out around the mounting screws at the ends from living outdoors for years.





Coming together now.

After the “ failed “ Bootfair, Sally and I climbed into the garden and cleared beds, moved my Ogre to a new open space as he had disappeared into the growth over time. I carried him to the 4 foot wall, Sally and I tried to get him on the plinth, but she is a girl, so I called my favourite 76 year old neighbour over to just help me safely get it up. Easy.

Had him about 15 years.



Loads of other jobs, including pruning, clearing and also doing a final number on the subterranean part of the wasp nest, finally covering it with soil.

Seems I now own a shed again. And @Glenanderson has a spares mower.




Galaxy was roped into action as well.

Am I the on;y one who has three or four future cars/projects spinning around in my head, while having one to still complete?

Part of my future planning or dreaming is something like these Owner type, or Tamiya style cars mostly seen in the Philippines.

Rather than use an old home built kit car frame, use something that has most of the bits in the right place.


Never done it before but think it is within my abilities.

It has spent a lot of time outside, degenerating, and in fact, on my drive the one end fell off completely.

So how do you fix wood?

With welding, it’s always easy to melt more metal back into a hole.

So I dismantled both ends and filled the holes with thin dowels I had cut from some scrap wood.

Then drove new, 45mm longer screws into the holes.



Then painted it all up once reassembled.



Done.



And of course waiting...... truck.

So at 4.00pm Bill drove over to where the car had been laying for a very long time and did a very basic inspection for me.

Previous owner had it 6 years.

I will get to the motivation and Why such a masochistic project, later.


When Bill called me later, he summarised it like this, and being a Scot, he is a man who does not waste words.

He basically said that if he had asked himself to go look at this for For him, he would be very happy to report that it was way better than expected.

So I sent him the money by Paypal within 10 minutes.


The sort of thing that pleased guys like @CraigRK and @PaulY no end, getting their grubby fingers in my wallet, spending my money on stuff for me.


I will post pics tomorrow or soon if you guys want to see what my Purgatory looks like.



I just need to figure the most affordable, sensible way to get the Rezin Rockit (Thanks @pistonpopper for suggesting the name) down from Glasgow to Rochester, and no, it has no motor or trans fitted right now.

Then moved the welder trolley back home and got on with making up the door @PaulY brought for his annexe

Cut to size, triangular in shape, this drives guys like @CraigRK nuts as it screws with his OCD



And and infill section made up, as door is mounted 150mm away from planned position, adding more space.

Quick short term update.


Last night I thought it wise to celebrate the REZIN ROCKIT long before it had even been given wheels where it is laying in a pile of detritus next to a body shop.

This has been fun before with less to celebrate.

Bill went to look at this on Friday night before going on shift, fighting fires.

As mentioned, his Report was that he would be happy to buy it for himself.

Good enough for me.

Thankfully he took a bunch of heartbreaking photos.

This is why I spent my money on, 10 minutes after his approval was voiced.

Last thing tonight, unless my friend Insomnia comes to visit again.

In order for us to all be singing off the same Nando’s menu, a few very simple objectives for this build

I want this to be a side project, if that is even possible.

It needs to be really simple and without fancy programming, machining and trick parts (all that is relative of course)

Easy to find parts and maintenance, using as much standard parts nd as much of what is on the car.

Low, rather than high.

As silly a power to mass ratio as one can get without sacrificing r3liability.

There is just no use in building some exotic car that’s always broken down or waiting for the next exotic parts.

All advice, help, guidance thankfully accepted.


This following car is not exactly what I want to build, but certainly my general direction.

Built for fun, to do the hill climb at RRG ‘18 in a short timeframe by a large team of friends and knowledgable chaps.

I have been chatting with @Phoenixcapri as well, he has given some advice and may be along with more.
