Re: off it goes
[QUOTE=CHROMAHOLIC;7027141]^^lol, thanks guys...we've been test fitting the wiring so not many new pics, we did the cable driven wipers mounted (hopefully I will never need them but better to be safe then sorry) went cable driven so wiper motor could be hid in cowl area.. We did finish up the rear splash pans, just wanted something to hide compressors and tank but still let in air flow to cool the compressors yet quite them down a bit. Also have a drain for the water trap in the one splash pan and then a drain cock for the tank, both done so things can be drained without removing the splash pans
Would you be willing to do another set of the mesh stainless steel cover? And if so, PM me with details. Thank you!

Re: off it goes
I would but the problem with making you one is that we actually changed the cowl holes to make them a little more symmetrical. So it most likely wouldn't line up with the stock holes....

Re: off it goes
Hm... is there any way you could make one for the stock holes?

Re: off it goes
Sorry....I probably couldn't make a factory cowl screen now, just due to the fact that I don't have a template to work from. We tried a couple of variations of templates to see what we thought looked the best, I initially in my mind wanted two pieces but once we laid it out on the truck I didn't like how one wiper wasn't behind the cowl and one wasn't. (I'm funny that way, some call it a sickness, lol)
So I really don't have anyway of making one without a template to work from. We changed the hole shapes, sizes and stretched it farther to the drivers side... Factory Stretched farther to drivers side What I had thought I wanted ( 2 Piece ) |

Re: off it goes
Brake lines are just about done....from reservoir down the firewall through the top of the frame rail
Machined out new rear fender braces, instead of the bolt going through the eyelet we machined these and tapped the bottom so this way they hold the fender with a stainleless button head through the bottom of the fender |

Re: off it goes
Did you buy A 90 and weld a piece of straight pipe off the 90 over to the inner fender well, just asking because the intake tube coming out of the throttle body looks like its a solid piece then you welded the end on where it goes from shiny to scuffed up? thanks for all your help

Re: off it goes
one piece from throttle body to where it's scuffed, then we welded a 90 into the fender

Not really any pics to post, we've pretty much have it all wired, exhaust just showed up...so time to start fabbing it up. After exhaust it's tear down and paint. Actually took a month off on the build, just to relax, re-coop, refill the wallet, lol. Sometimes on big projects like this a break from it is nice....we are building our own exhaust so I'll post pics soon. Thanks for the interest in the project

Re: off it goes
Just invested a Sat morning reading this instead of working on my own car (no I don't have a truck yet but it's my next project.) Everything that could be said has been said about the level and quality of this build. Subscribed and in for the long run. i mean who cares if it takes 5 years, it'll still be way better than most guys who take ten years to build a truck.
Thanks for sharing. |
