Re: Wife's 48
Thanks for theupdates.....Ive been reading throughout your build. Working on a 48 myself with my 13 year old son when started and he just turned 16. Takes a while as we have a rule --- he has to be beside me whenever a nut/bolt/screw is turned on the truck. WELL Worth the time we spend together!
Ive restored 67-72 pickups and 67-69 camaro. When nuts and bolts start going clockwise instead of counter clock wise --- its exciting! Dan |

Re: Wife's 48
Ok, here is where it is. I have started doing little things like the 3rd brake light and the dome light while waiting on gaskets and stuff. So I thought I'd post some pics of what has been done.
Brake lines to the hydroboost, column shift and steering shaft all hooked up. IMG_0935 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr Routing of the power steering lines. IMG_0936 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr And the hook up to the power steering pump and gear box. IMG_0937 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr Then the part I'm actually looking forward to, after I get some more parts assembled. IMG_0938 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr Yeah, I know, I'm not right! I am going to try to modernize this a little. I have a push button start, and some other goodies to try and install. That brings me to a question, has anyone used the Dakota Digital auto door lock controller or the headlight controller? I am looking at those, but have not pulled the trigger yet.

Thanks Jim.
I keep complaining it's going too slow, but I know it takes time. So I'll just keep plugging away at it.

Re: Wife's 48
Thanks Jan.
I'm now waiting on a shipment from LMC with some gaskets that I need to assemble the front end. When I get those I should be able to make some progress.

Re: Wife's 48
I got 4 hours in on the truck yesterday afternoon. Here is the result.
IMG_0943 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr IMG_0942 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr That is the rider's door with it's guts assembled. I thought it would be fairly easy, HA. I posted a question on the electric door lock. I had the Altman assembled, then had to disassemble and reassemble, 2 times to get everything working, and I still don't have the lock function working right on the electric lock. Unlock works, but not the lock. When I hit the power it extends and bounces back, like it doesn't have enough travel room. These were supposed to be made for this application! Oh well, it will lock with the key, so it will work, if I can get the driver's door to work. I'll post that update when it gets done.

Re: Wife's 48
Ok, you may have noticed the power steering/brake hoses running through the driver's side inner fender in an earlier post. It seemed a good idea at the time, but not so much when putting the fender together, and trying to be the anti-squeak stuff installed. I didn't want to take them off as there is fluid in them.
So after about 5 hours of trying different ideas, like using Gorilla tape to hold the asphalt anti-squeak in place between the inner and outer fenders, and cutting the bead molding that goes between the back of the outer fender and the cab and pushing it into place I have this. IMG_0947 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr IMG_0948 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr What a PITA! Note to self, there are some things that are just way harder by yourself, and this was one. So I put the other fender assembly together on the ground, and next week I have a buddy coming over to help me put it on the truck. Putting it all together on the ground was WAY EASIER! We'll see how it works putting in on the truck now.

Re: Wife's 48
Well, I got to spend a couple of hours yesterday afternoon on the truck. I spent the morning through about 2 helping a buddy go get some tools and haul them to his house. Then after that I got to spend a few hours putting on the rider's side front fenders and even started planning a few little things for the electrical.
IMG_0952 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr Then, this afternoon that same friend came over and helped me put the bed on. IMG_0951 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr While we didn't get much else done, I can work on a lot by myself.
