I have family out in Eckert Colorado, is that anywhere near you ?
Thanks man! Things will probably quite down for a little while, but we aren't done yet!!

Eckert is on the Western Slope over near Grand Junction. Probably 6-7 hours away.

Sorry, a little late response from me, but I just got caught up. See ya Sunday. If you want to cruise down there together, call me. We could meet at I-25.
At least I knew right away when this antifreeze came from. Isn't there a park-n-ride on the NW corner?

Thanks! Funny you ask... I stopped on the road near my house, and from a dead stop just let off the brake and as it started rolling I floored it, and it blew the ONE tire off instantly!

Looking forward to an update !!

What is PEP? Is that pep, like spunk? LOL! I have rung him out good a couple times so far. For still having the 2.73 rear, it still gets up and hauls! Can't wait to get a 3.42 rear in there!! I'm not sure what Jesse did with the upper limit.

The check engine light is still on, but it's for the rear O2 sensors, which I don't have. So Jesse must not have deleted them. So some day when snow is in the forecast for a week or so I will send the PCM back to him so he can fix that. And I'll see if he can firm up the shifts too. Otherwise I'm not going do worry about it too much.

Well, I pulled Fred in the shop to pull the original engine on 8-29, and less than a month later he has a new heart. Somewhere along the way I decided on a lofty goal to be done in time for our Colorado cruise that is on the 27th, tomorrow. I still can't believe we will be going tomorrow!

If anyone reading this has been on the fence about doing it, or even debating doing ANYTHING to your ride, plan it out thoroughly, find out what worked and what didn't work for others and make your plan based on that, and set a budget. It CAN be done! I'm no one special, I'm just not afraid to jump in and get both feet wet. That's how I get my thrills!

Next week I'm going to gather up all the notes I made as I went, along with all the stuff in my notebook, and start working on getting a how-to put together. It won't be done quickly, but it will get done. I'm hoping to have all the part numbers that are important to this swap, along with alternate things like engine mounts, trans mounts, exhaust, etc.

Time to relax!!!!!!

A LOT more power!!! It's not the same truck.... AT ALL!

Yeah, I'll just let him know that i want the 1-2 and 2-3 firmed up. And I will probably put in the Vette servos in the tranny, that helps a bunch too.

I need to wait until I get the new rear end, then budget tires. Then I will absolutely destroy these!

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

So i know you are working on a build guide (which I want an autographed copy) but I have 2 questions.

What all did you end up needing from the donor truck? I only ask because I am trying to get a couple of quotes from salvage yards via email.

Where did you get those cool cupholders from on the 68?

I will help Bob get some pics taken today of Fred for you all. And if he brings a video camera, I will try to get a rolling clip of him.

Bob, yes there is a park & ride at NW corner of 34 & 25. Give me a call.

Get everything they will let you take! Harness, PCM, exhaust manifolds, y-pipe with cats and O2 sensors, MAF, radiator hoses, fan, etc are absolute minimums. If getting the tranny too, be sure to get the cooler lines. The 4L60E and and TH350 share the same slip yoke, but I don't think the 4L80E is the same.

The cup holders can be bought from http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/autol...dinc=cupholder That's not where I got them, but I think this is who carries them now.

Look back a few pages for the relay mod for the headlights. It runs full battery power to the lights via a relay, and adds a diode to have all 4 lights come on in high. WELL worth it!

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

Thanks a bunch!

Why do I get the feeling that a bunch of junk yards are going to like me, and a bunch of wives/girlfriends are going to hate me?

You will LOVE this setup! A stock TBI engine doesn't even come close to comparing to a stock LS engine. Of all the projects I have taken on in my shop, this one easily ranks #1!

You mentioned firming up your shifts with the tune...did you get the 'vette servo in there yet? Unbelieveable improvement in shift firmness and feel for very little $$$.

Oh I am going to keep my tbi in the K-10. I am going to buy a 85-87 2wd. Will probabbly put a 6.0 in it. If it was going to be a daily driver I would go with the 5.3 as you did. But this tuck will be my toy.

I hope to start my shop around march or april of next year and then around this time next year I will start looking for my project truck.
I have been toying this around in my head for a while now and after watching your build you have given me the fever. Thanks again for all your hard work on makeing this swap a little easier for anybody that does it from now on. I know I will use this as a refreence a lot when I do mine. I can't what foryour write up you are planing to do.
Thanks again, Jamie

Congrats on getting the truck "finished" for the weekend! I have had several of these design engines and I haven't really had a lack of power but mine have all been at least an extended cab truck. I bet your truck is quite a bit lighter so I bet it will Scoot!

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

Thanks guys!!! The way Fred runs is simply incredible! Considering it still has the 2.73 rear end in it, I can't wait to get the 3.42 in!

I am still fighting a minor trans fluid leak at the top fitting on the radiator, but I think there is just probably a small piece of junk in there. I tightened it once at the get together and that seemed to have fixed it as it was dry when we met my wife for dinner in Ft Collins, but I looked this morning and it was wet again. No biggie there, it'll get fixed.

I can feel the lack of gearing on the interstate. At 85-90 in O/D it's OK, but at 75-80 it really needs to be in 3rd. Again, I can't wait for the new gears.

So far, just guestimating based on the gas gauge and the miles I have on it so far, I'm around 22 or so for mileage. Not complaining at all! I'm sure it will get better with the proper gearing so the engine isn't working so hard.

Hey Dennis.......
