Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
finally got pics of the Boss 338s I had widened out for the rear of my truck (69 swb stepside).
fronts are regular grey 18x8's with 245/40's, in the rear I had 18x9.5's but they are now 18x12's with 335/30's. The work on the rear wheels was performed at Weldcraft wheels. The tires are BFG KDW2's I ordered through Tirerack.com.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
For these particular wheels it was $235 per wheel. Funny thing is, I got wheels through the group buy and I paid nearly same to widen the two rears as I did initially for the whole set and I still came out okay, since a custom set of 18x12's was about $1000 alone. Doing it this was still cost me $1000 for the wheels but I have all four instead of only two rears. Tires were $993, mount and balance was $107. So, all in all I've got $2100 in this setup, and I may (probably will) run across someone else running these wheels on a '69 stepper, but they most likely will not be tuckin' 335's in the back like mine. I am building a 'Pro Touring' truck, and I've had this in my head for quite a few years. Now Pro Touring is all the rage with the musclecar crowd, and hopefully my truck won't be passe' when I get finished with it. We'll see how those wide rears hold up to my 600hp 468 BBC and the TREMEC 5spd, since sliding sideways on the gas through 3rd gear will always be in style.

This sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Hard to believe they could do that much work for $235. Can you imagine how long it took to weld those two beads? I assume they maintain a pretty good balance on them too. They look great!

Have you guys heard if there is a timeline on 22's? I would love to run a 20/22 staggered.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
They can't even get the 18s and 20s out in a timely manner to keep up with demand. I seriously doubt there's even a remote chance of 22s anytime soon. In fact, the only thing I've ever heard about 22s in this style was an unfounded rumor posted elsewhere. AFAIK, Boss has never said anything about making these in 22s.

Let's be clear: I'm not the ultimate authority. You could always call American Eagle Wheel and find out what their plans are. I'm just saying I've been watching these wheels for a long time now and have never seen anything from AEW/Boss about 22s.

American Eagle had the 338's in 22" on display at SEMA last year. I know that's not a certainty just because they display the there, but the rumors are still out there.

LMAO!!
There's about 75 pages of posts between this and another thread about this. Don't get me (us) started. Nutshell: if they tried, they failed miserably.

well I guess the 338s are just not for the trucks then. Still a cool wheel in certain applications IMO. Did not choose em for my truck tho.

I wouldn't hold my breath on the 22's. Boss doesn't do much of what they say!
