Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Eh.... The last 3 weeks have been basically nothing aside from the fuel tank getting finished up.
I sent a rather "scathing" email to WFO regarding my frustrations & think it actually upset Trevor a little bit... Hoping that doesn't hinder or negatively affect my project, but getting a nit tired of how easy it is for them to push my truck aside for other work! He has however stated that he will make my truck a "priority" to get done, so guess we'll see what happens. Feel bad for Keven - he wants to work on it & make progress, but gets pulled off to work on other stuff all the time. I just want their part to get done so I can get the truck to Mario. Hoping to have some kind of update though later this week. |

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Wooooo-Hoooooo!!!!!
Finally scored me a complete set of NOS headlight bezels & grille trim for the project - and all from 1 seller thankfully!!! Was beginning to get a little perturbed by the darn eBay snipers that kept beating me out at the last second so I bid high & took it all home for a change! Nothing done this week as Keven was still finishing up a YJ rock crawler project. Supposed to go full throttle on mine again next week though, so we'll see! |

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
No pics to post this week unfortunately...
The shop did however "re-rent" their old shop space which is in the same business complex as their current one. Keven has moved his tools, my truck & all of my parts down there to work on it outside of the main shop. This allows him more room to "spread out" & also to be able to work uninterrupted on it while he's down there - plus everything will be just how he left it rather than the truck being moved around all the time to make way for other projects... Trevor seems a bit more "re-focused" on the whole thing & says he wants to try to have Keven on my truck at least 3 days a week, so we'll see how that holds up. Not to sure it wouldn't just be easier for him to forget about it now that it's not sitting out in the shop area staring at him... Keven's still tackling all the wiring - it's by far the largest task like that he's ever had to undertake considering he's used to building rock crawlers & vehicles not normally reserved for the street or shows! Will post more updates & pics as soon as I get 'em!!! |

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Yeah... Wish I had more - I post 'em as I get 'em trust me!
Some bad news to report though - the NOS upper & lower grill trim I scored on eBay apparently "fell out" of the PVC tubing that the seller packaged it in en route... Doubt I'll ever see it now... |

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Must have been shipped USPS huh?
Shipped a ring and pinion through USPS once and only the ring gear got there... Wasn't happy but I still use them, just their flat rate services. That really sucks about loosing the NOS parts! especially since it sounds like the seller took measures to prevent damage.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Nope, surprisingly it was UPS that did it.... Both Mario & the seller are contacting them to see what can be done, but imagine that even if they're found they'll most likely be damaged after falling out of the PVC tubing!
Scored something else today though!!! Got a NOS black Chevrolet grille assembly still in the original box!!! Gonna use that rather than the LMC Truck "Special Edition" grille that I had purchased before. Will try to get some pics of it soon to put on here. |

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Here's a good shot of the aforementioned NOS black grille assembly I scored off of eBay. I think it's gonna look WAY better on there than that LMC Special Edition grille painted black I had in mind originally - plus it's genuine GM parts!!!
Now just gotta get a Bowtie made to go in the center that'll "fit in" with everything else.... |

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
The grille and trim are going to be the only factory pieces on the body then, huh? Are you gonna let Mario get creative with it? I went back through and re-read the build this morning!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
I have no pics posted of the LMC grille as it's still inside the box at the shop. You can however see what it looks like in the rendering - although it comes in a chrome finish. Also - here's a link to a view of it on the LMC website:
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=60 Quote:
As for Mario getting "creative" - to a certain degree, yes. We have a paint scheme in mind as you can see in my renderings, but I will allow him some creative input if he see's something that might make it better. |

For the dash & door panels yes I am. We're not quite to that point yet - it won't happen until we get past the paint stage.
