congrats on the new spread! living in an apt/condo/town house can't compare to having your own (well, and the banks) place.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Yes i am excited to have it to. One day i will built 3 car shop. Buddy has carried both loads of stuff over so far. Some times i wish he was a truck but it was rainin really bad the first trip over there and all my stuff would have gotten soaked. So i am happy he is a suburban. Like a sofa on wheels.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Congrats on the house.
At least you have overdrive. The gearing change isn't as big of a deal other than the money involved. The 4.10's are only like a set of 3.08's on the freeway. It may actually help your city mileage since it will help get that monster moving a little easier.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
I am not sure about the mpg due to loosing daily driver status. Now when i drive it i have fun. It does seem to like the gears. The rpms only change buy about 250 at 65. Cant wait to have front axle in.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
So i will not order any thing from 4 wheelparts ever again if i can help it. I put order in on the 24th of november and no order updates. So i call and they say the part had to be specal ordered. So i ask when it will arive. Lady says sometime next week. Then i ask when will i get it. She says it will ship out a few days after they get the part. So i guess it take 3 weeks atleast to get a part that they have not said was out of stock. I read up on there shipping and some say they ship fast and some say they take forever and wont answer emails (which i found out sent one monday and no answer yet) and dont give updates. Found same diff at summit for 30 bucks cheaper so if they dont have it buy friday next week i will tell them to give money back and order from someware else. Very upset. A nice red out of stock sign would have done great. Now they lost a customer.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Huh that sucks. I had a very different experience when I ordered my gears and posi earlier this fall. The ring gear was out of stock, but they had a thick gear set and a thick gear posi in stock that ended up saving me about $30 bucks over the pieces I had picked. Everything showed up about 4 days after I ordered. Sorry to hear they are sucking it up on your order. I'd cancel now and order from summit - they always seem to ship promptly...

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Well things have went from bad to worse. After i called they somehow shipped my stuff and charged me more then my total said on my reciept. So i guess they had my stuff and just didnt want to ship it. The first time i ordered from them they were great. Shipped fast and accurate. Maybe you have to call order in. That is how i did it last time. This time was a net order. Still makes me madder that they all the sudden had my stuff and then charged me extra for it.

Doesn't seem too out of line if everything is in good shape. Hood, rad support, fenders, inner fenders and trimmings?

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Yes always something. It looks to have been there for just about the hole time the burb has ben alive. I need to upgrade anyways. In the summer it gets pretty hot sitting in trafic. Not to the point of overheating but close. I want to get nice aluminum rad and a set of electric fans that will let me idle for hours or let me 4 wheel slowly all day. Wish them be cool set ups werent so dang pricy.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
a truck should be able to idle in the middle of death valley all day with the a/c on w/o overheating.
your not pulling plenty of clean air through the radiator with the your manual fan and shroud? is it a 4 core rad?

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
I have electric fan, and looks like rad is 1.5-2 inches wide. The tanks are quite abit wider then the core. The fan i have is from pepboys and is only rated for 5 liters it says. It under 2000 cfm i think maybe 1600. It will come on and the temp will lower at first then creep up. It did same with the 350 in it. I make sure to was the rad out every time i was the truck. you can see right threw the core if you look threw the grill.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
sounds like it could be a 3, or maybe 2 core. you don't have to go aluminum to handle that heat...consider the big block trucks. a good 4 core and plenty of air movement thru the fins should keep the temps down.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
It is a 2 core but the tubes are 1 inch wide insted of like half inch like old rad is. The core part is 2 1/4 wide. That is much wider then stock. I just bought it so i will let yall know how it works out. Cant wait.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
I meant how many was the radiator thats in the truck...not cooling enough. I saw the aluminum one, and that's getting to be a standard config for them.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
I am not sure how many. It is only 1.5 inches wide so maybe 2-3 core. I have never counted.....Was going to today but could not get cap off. It is one of them fancy thermometer types and is extreamly hard to install.(not going on new rad) I was just going to buy fans and a shroud untell i seen mine was leaking.
