Yep! My first choice was white, but the lumber yard didn't have enough of it at the time. Still, though, the wood was only about $225 if I remember right. My wood working friend did all the milling and finish work. But however my first choice was some flame patterned Myrtlewood that another friend harvested on his Southern Oregon coast farm, but the sawn lumber was not dried properly, and it all shifted and warped. My wood worker friend is using portions of it on other projects. That myrtlewood would have been pretty unique, though, and I wish I could have seen it finished. You can see some of the detail of that wood in this fishing net he made.

Today I put new wiper blades, a new brake light switch, and new reverse lights in! But the passenger side reverse light is not working unfortunately.

Got the rear part of the cab's body work pretty much done. I'll epoxy prime it tomorrow and get some high build on it. Nice having ot to strip to bear metal. So far the drop rails look great.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Nice work. Easy day for me. Replaced headlamps with Sylvania Silverstar sealed beams.
Changed my TH350 speedo driven gear from 20-tooth to a 24-tooth and verified the speedo with a GPS phone app - right on target. 5% per tooth rule of thumb worked for me as my speedo was reading 20% higher than GPS MPH. Added a spare tire carrier from LMC and bolted in the spare tire. Added a kill switch to the HEI tach lead and tested a few times - works great.

I cleaned up a set last week for my daughters 68 step also. Wire brushed and wiped down with brake cleaner then painted black caliper paint.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Painted the rear part of the cab. Paint area was a little too cool when I turned on the exhaust fan . I'm using a large ezup with sides . I got a couple minor sags but I got it in the sun now . Debating on whether I will fix them or just leave them. That's the price you pay for using single stage paint.

Not going for show a truck just a real nice driver. That you wont mind taking to a show

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

No photos but got the upper rear shock mounts off and two of the four rivets in the rear most frame cross member out. I’m prepping to paint the rear of the frame and know I’ll be re locating the rear shocks so those parts gotta go.

Guess the truck was stuck at least once and someone connected the chain to that rear cross member and pulled a hickey in it. Buddy of mine has a spare frame so I’m gonna get a straight one from him but figured the frame would clean up better with the old cross member out. Hope I’m blasting the rear frame section this weekend.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Lots of people would not call this progress but I know this crowd appreciates the level of time and effort to get to this point.

Started with just pulling the drive shaft and removing the long rear brake line. That went so well I decided to cut the springs out. Then that lead to cutting the rear end u bolts. What the heck, wonder if soaking the trailing arm bolts for weeks has paid off.

Now all I have to do is clean it all up. Got rust encapsulator and frame paint just need time and a pile of parts.

Installed a new master cylinder. New NAPA calipers and hoses. Powerstop drilled & slotted rotors and pads. Stops great now. Pedal doesn’t sink to the floor at a stop light.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Working on the power steering this week , This is a 67 short bed frame that wasn't dimpled for a power steering gear , at the bottom left of the picture you can see where I modified the frame just enough to fit the box without going crazy with heat and a BFH to make it fit , It really doesn't take much to have it fit and still look clean . Just waiting on the new pump and pulleys to show up and chase down some stainless steel lines .
