Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Not sure if its a OEM bumper. It is a used one . Has a few nicks and scrapes. Truck is a driver. Ordered brackets from Classic and they fit well. Now I have to get the correct tag holder, filler panels and right bumper bolts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

i got my correct bumper bolts from aspensautoaz.com they sell usable 60-66 parts you get 6 bolts, washers and nuts for $10 plus i think $7 for shipped. i just wire wheeled em and the come out great!!!! ps the bolts for the brackets to frame are different, they dont have the rounded head, just a hex head. i found a guy on CL and grabbed 4 from him.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

true, lowes does have hardware items. since im using only period correct items, i went with parts that came off a simular truck. also the hardware may not be the right grade for bumpers, and if it is the price is higher. one other thing the nuts have a groove on the outside that looks cool. ps im kinda particular bout the period correctness so thats why i shown what i use...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Took my trailing arms off to cleanup and discovered a rust through spot. Looks like I'm now in the market for a replacement set.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I agree, if thats the only spot with a rust through issue, then I would cut that part out and weld in a plate on both sides, wire wheel and paint the set. It just depends on if thats the ONLY damage, I have seen pics of these rusting from the inside out at the seam where they join, which hopefully isnt the case here.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Spent today and Saturday installing an aftermarket column shift linkage, replacing the shift shaft seal in the transmission and changing the plugs & wires. It took forever to get the indicator to center in the P R N D 1 2 letters on the column and the shift shaft seal still leaks. Guess I need to pull the trans pan and remove the shift shaft & see if it has any burs or nicks on it. CPP now has their linkage on sale for $39.00. The one I bought just used all thread and I didn't like the way it looked so I slid a piece of 3/8" stainless tubing over the all thread to make it look a little better.
