Yeah they are really sharp in person too and fit the look of the dash. I am very pleased with them! Quote:
I know...Right !?!?!?! Thanks Bomp....hang in there buddy!! See Below Quote:
Which now that I think about it, that is part of the bummer up here, the winters are so long and the window you have to enjoy it is so small that it does not balance out for me. 9 months of winter, and only 1 or 2 of them where you can get out and have fun in it is not much of an exchange. About the goves.... yeah having to back off the vice because I got a glove finger tip in it, or some such is annoying; but then when the grinder takes off a patch of glove, or the slage melts off a bit of the glove instead of skin....it makes it all worth while. That, and it takes me less than a minute to clean up at night. ************************************************************************************** You guys that hit me up for dash cluster stuff, sorry for the delay. I put that stuff in the top most shelf in the darkest corner of the garage, evidentally because it took me a long time to find it again !! The good news is those packages went out today, so hopefully you will get them soon-ish-er-like possibly. Dang.... I just realized I should have sent them as Santa, so you could show your friends there really is a Santa in North Pole by the post mark, and that he has crappy penmanship !!!

Re: Not Another Rebuild Thread....
So I had taken out that surfboard fuel cell from inside my cab, and I knew I would have to do something with the back of the cab.
This is my story.... Only the names have been changed to protect the crazy. ************************************************************************************** Well I had that donor truck hood just lying around after cutting the patch of sheet metal for the guage cluster. After a short test run with a cardboard template, I cut this out. Then some minor massaging, and a test fitting: I figured it would be important to know for sure that my playing with cardboard and rulers would actually pan out, I tossed the seat in just to check clearance. And an oblique shot to get an idea of what the "look" would be that I was going for. Here the speaker box sides are welded in, and I had the great idea of checking how this back panel would go with the seat belt retractors in as well. As it turned out, that was a good idea because the side "wings" that were going to follow the contour of the cab were not going to play nice with the seat belts. It also stopped me from weeks of pondering how to make cool little access door in them for the cab corner wells.... That is all for tonight, I have to work tomorrow, but I will post more on Sunday if all goes according to prophesy.... Hope you all have a great weekend !! Thanks for looking ! PS.... I had an actual request for more video today while I was at work of all places, so I am working already on my next one, coming soon !!

Very innovative, great way to re-purpose the donor hood!

Re: Not Another Rebuild Thread....
Thanks Greg!
I really liked your new video by the way, you playing 2 parts was very innovative! I cannot say my editing program is capable of doing what you did there.... but now I am intrigued to find out! You keep me motivated man, keep it up ! Thank you Don! I try to not be so wasteful.... Well hopefully it works out as well as it does in concept in my head !! Quote:
I think I am still too young for NOS buddy.... That would be like handing a bag of cherry bombs to a 13 year old and then leaving him alone for a couple of days with a lighter... ************************************************************************************** After getting off 24 hour duty this morning at 0600; I cannot say I got much done today. I rose like a zombie from the dead just before noon and got into the garage a couple hours later. The older you get, the more ready you are to pass out at a decent hour each night, and trying to stay up pulling all nighters is certainly a thing of the past !! Anyways..... I am about finished with the back panel job. Here it is after I added a stiffner ring of 18ga sheet steel for the sub to ride on. And too you can see my "Coulter Trim" I added as well. If any of you guys dont think you inspire me, well ....... here is certain proof ! Soon after that I built the baffle for the back of the speaker out of foamboard. I was going to cut and weld it out of more sheet metal, but.... not this time. Then I welded it in. As a stiffner for the whole panel I used the hood support frame that I cut out with the donor metal (hence the pattern of spot welds in the paint). Here it is all herculinered in. I shot some video of the process, I hope it helps someone else in the future as it seems to have really worked out for me !! I just have to edit the vid now for you guys. And today I mostly only got the masking off the stiffner ring, and got it painted. Then got the masking off the Coulter-Trim and getting it ready for paint to match the rest of the cab. You may notice the larger diameter lenght of Coulter-Trim on the top edge of the back panel and the bottom of the cab wall. Not only does it tie in the two panels, but will also add to the whole design motif that the cab has taken on. A little bit of touch up, mounting the capacitor and amp, then it is just a matter of wiring the sound system in and I can check this step off the list !! Thanks for looking guys! Hopefully I will get the video done here shortly !
